Anyone have a drawing of a 70 440-6 fuel system with ca emissions?
« on: February 28, 2007 - 08:50:43 PM »
Working on my fuel system for my car. The fuel line at the filter, is it supposed to have a little tube on the side to bleed off vapor and how does it hook up? My car is a 70. It has a vent line running up to the engine compartment along with the fuel line. I am not sure of the routing with the california carbs, the number of nipples for the breather, and where it all hooks too.

The car was a 318 4 speed, I am installing the 440-6. The gas tank had a bunch of hoses run to it in the front. Do I need the vapor return ran off the fuel filter?

If I was just building it to run, I wouldnt worry with it all. But I am trying to make it look as stock for right now.

you need the vapor separator , it bolts on with the fuel pump it has 1 line in 3/8" off the fuel pump & 2 lines out , 1 to the carbs & one to the 1/4 " line back to the fuel tank , the other lines off the tank are just a captive vapor trap , if there is a 3rd line to the front it would connect to the fuel bowl but I think that started in 71

Ok, that's what I was thinking. My fuel pump is 3/8ths inlet and outlet, then the fuel filter has a 1/4 inch vapor nipple out the side and a 3/8ths outlet out the top. It just seem like something sould of been in between.  I guess the crank case breather will have a line going to the center carb vent, and the air cleaner.

the breather is the rare one with connections for 3-hoses.
Just finished redoing everything fuel-wise on mine .
So if you need specific pics... let me know

I got a 3 nipple breather on my other car, but isn't hooked up cause I stuck it on the 74 challenger to plug the hole.

Can you give a diagram of the 70 6 pack cuda engine with the ca emission carbs? Where all the vents and lines hook up under the hood. That would be super for me if you could.
