Is it easy to rebuild a A-833 4 speed
« on: March 03, 2007 - 08:06:57 AM »
On a scale of 1-5, where 5=take it to a shop, how hard is it to rebuild a A-833 tranny.  Also, is there a thread on this subject.

it would depend on your skill level & tools available
they are not really difficult to rebuild but can be frustrating to assemble you do need 2 types of snap ring pliers , pin type & flat ring type & you need some way to load the countershaft , , I bought the factory tool to do it  , you can trim down an old counter shaft , I once managed to assemble a trans using heater hose just to see if it could be done
I guess i would say it is about 3 on the difficulty scale

Thanks Chryco......If you say it's a 3 then I must fact or in the novice factor.  So I will send it out.  I you said 1-2 then I would try.  Again thanks.
