Ralley Wheels
« on: March 05, 2007 - 03:44:56 PM »
I just received my new ralley wheels from Year One.There were a few minor flaws in the paint in one of the wheels. When I called YearOne they told me that they are powder coated. To get the correct color I would have to buy the paint from them, and paint the wheels the correct color.I thought when you ordered Wheels, they would have been painted the correct color. Are they correct in what they are telling me.
Thanks Al

AL,

I bought mine from Jegs. I bought my politically correct colored paint from Eastwood. After using the paint on them, I don't think it was much different at all from the powder-coating that was on them. So, I say... get the paint that Year One is offering, or I can send you what is left of my can from Eastwood.   :lol2:  :smilielol:

Totally Auto has the paint in cans.  If you want to shoot it with a gun I can look up the paint code for you.  It can be bought at any Ditzler PPG supply house.

I have the same wheels you do. I see no difference in color between them and Year One's wheels.

Yes, I ussed Eastwood's paint. As I said, it looked the same as what was already on there from Wheel Vintiques.

Has anyone used the spray cans instead of the spray gun to paint your wheels. The body shop that I go to,does not want to use the Acrylic Lacquer that I bought from yearone. If I can't find a shop to use the Acrylic Lacquer,I may go with the spray cans instead.
Thanks Al

Yes I was.  :2thumbs:  My 2 front wheels are the original 14" Ralleys. I had to sand some of the rust off, but only on the area I knew would be visable. They came out just fine and dandy. I did spring for the clear coat too, but I don't know if that was over-kill or not.
