NC Bound!!!
« on: March 10, 2007 - 07:33:42 PM »
Well, its been about 4 years since my wife and I got it in our heads that we wanted to move the North Carolina and it finally seems like it is going to happen! The first time was about 4 years ago when the first job offer came through and came very close to commiting until the job offer got retracted. Long story short due to a bunch of idiots flying planes in sky scrappers and having a bad impact on our economy. So 4 years later, a complete job change and joining a global size corporation is what it took and now an offer cmae through to relocate down to NC because one of their guys is moving up North to Massachussetts. Can't imagine why.
Reason for this whole thing is does any one know of any links for Muscle Car shops/suppliers/and so on down there. I'll probably be down there by June if all goes well and when I get my Plymouth down there I'm going to get started on redoing it a little at a time $$$. Rather than paying rediculous taxes...
Later all

Welcome to the South!! :2thumbs:

So what part of NC are you relocating to?? I'm in eastern Virginia about 20 mile from the NC line & about 25 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. If you are near the VA line there are a lot of Mopar people here and some good car clubs. If you are close I could provide you some good info!!  :jumping:

due to the Katrina insurance crisis here on the MS Gulf Coast, my long time friend had his insurance cancelled, so he sold his body shop in less than a week and is moving to NC, seems a lot of people are moving there, no earthquakes, hurrincanes unless on the outer banks, no tornadoes (i guess) clean air, snow skiing, beaches

maybe HOT women, i'd love to have a cabin there 2

I'm located in the Raleigh area, there are at least two other members here who are local.

One local shop is www.uscartool.com. They make some parts that I've seen people use (driveshaft loops and rotisseries mostly).

Good Move --you won't regret it. I left PA 4 years ago and love it here in SC. It is going to be in the upper 70's to low 80's here all week. I actually cut my grass Saturday.

Looks like we are looking at Raleigh NC. Gonna try to stay near my new job location. I work for a Data Storage company called EMC. You find our equipment mostly in corporate Data Centers. I'm looking forward to the climate down there. My wife and I both draw the line at 50 degrees! I'll defiinitely be looking you guys up for some info on local car outings, Hopefully will have some time and resources to get back into this hobby. Living in NY seems like i'm working crazy overtime just to pay off this damn state. Will be looking froward to the whole aspect of NC. The people seem alot more sincere. Been talking to my future manager a little bit and seems like a really nice guy. He's excited to get someone new in the field as well. Gonna be some adjustment for my kids but I hope that school will get them into the mainstream of things. They both have good personalities and never seem to have any trouble making friends.

Cost of living will be better. Hopefully that would leave some funding for the hobby. I'm just getting started myself, searching for a car as we speak.

I still haven't heard about any real cruises or meets here though. Maybe I'm just out of the loop. :dunno:

Welcome to the Sunny South GC...You know the difference in a Yankee & a DAHM YANKEE?  :grinno:

A Yankee comes south and goes back home, a DAHM YANKEE comes south & stays.

Good luck with the move.  My sisters 3 kids all moved down to the Raleigh area and seem to love it.  My sister is going to join them soon.  If you need any transmission work done when you get started on your car, my neice is married to a good tranny guy.
