"Foosing" and painting my rear bumper?
« on: March 11, 2007 - 05:51:44 AM »
Since I`m going to get a fiberglass Elastomeric style front bumper and paint it Hemi Orange to match the body I`m thinking of smoothing the rear bumper by hiding the bolts and filling any holes/slots and also painting it.I figure I will also paint the guards.Whadya you guys think?Anyone got any pics of smoothed and/or painted rear bumpers?

On one hand, having one bumper painted and the other chrome seems odd, even though that's how the factory did it.  On the other, with the rear painted, it may throw the proportions off when viewed from the back.  I think the new Challenger has a fat butt, at least from the pictures of the rear and I think it's because there is so much orange down low.  It needs a more horizontal statement, IMO.

My suggestion is that if you're going to have the bumper re-chromed, get a rattle can and paint it.  Stick it up there and see how it looks.  If you don't like it you can always chrome it as before.  As for the Foose....getting rid of the "warts" and getting things tight is always COOL!

As long as all you're going to foose up is the bumper, I'd paint it black.

I like painted. Front is painted steel and rear is painted fiberglass, risky I know but it was/is a racecar.
Hey 360, got any more pix of the red 440 prostreeter?

I think it would look good painted body color and have any exposed holes filled.  As Carl said, it'd look better if you kept things consistent front to rear.

After seeing the pics I`m really liking the painted ones and I think it would look better matching the front.
