I think the problem with Foose is that he has turnd from one of a kind custom stuff to a "puppy mill" attitude of knocking out semi customs for the tv show in rapid succession. He has a very signature look when it comes to cars without fat fenders and that signature is repeated over and over with only moderate changes from car to car to "fit" the personality of the owner.
Similarly, the buying public has a very narrow perception of what is "proper" for a muscle car. Anytime some one pushes the envelope of that, they get flak, and the mopar crowd tends to be more narrow in that view than a lot of chevy and ford owners. Look at the controversy over whether or not the 5.7 is Hemi or not for an example of that.
Now, the car in question..certainly it has a lot of hours of work in it. It is very nice too look at and probably nice to drive. If it was offered to me I certainly wouldn't turn it down. If I had the means and where with all to repoduce it would I? No. Custom cars are kinda like Playboy. Sure it is nice to look at some of them, but would some of us be willing to live with them day to day? Probably not. So most of us look for and find more practical models that fit with our lifestyles.
Some guys look at my Challenger and tell me how cool it is. Others ask how I can stand driving such a pile of crap. It all simply perspectives and none are really right or wrong. As long as I like it, I'm happy.
Nice words, you are right in a lot of things, I wouldn't build the Cuda that way if I had te chance, but in every car I look for elements that appeal, and what you all say about the car I can agree with but not when it comes to Foose.
I think a lot of people forget the words Foose says, he enjoys, and want's with a iron will to make people's dreams come true, he says that over and over again in interviews, Overhaulin is doing exactly that. Foose also said he thinks it's a shame they have to do it in a limited time frame, therefor he cant do with the car's what he'd like to do if there were no boundry's. He also said, he will keep doing tv programs, to keep making money that helps him and the employees of Foose Design creating one-off rides... that's where he truly shines in my mind.
I see people typing the cars aren't all that, en he shouldn't touch other peoples cars without asking, but in the limited amount of time, he makes sure they are cool rides when they're done with them. And about not touching without asking, a guy that wants to keep his car the way it rolled of the production line, will never get on the show. I am sure of that.
Other then that, like I said, nice said... Beauty is an individual thing.
Btw, I like the way you can talk here about things, without getting arrogant reply's. Really cool.
