4 speed question...
« on: March 14, 2007 - 06:55:18 AM »
I was told it's out of a 73 Chally. (?)   It likes to kick out of second sometimes. Only on downshifts or when I let off the gas. It's like when i should power shift or something it bucks out of gear.  T/O bearing? (too short)   tranny sync.?  It doesn't happen all the time, but in 2nd and not all over it I hold the shifter in place. Helps alittle. Only in 2nd. I don't know that much about manual trannys.  :clueless:

If the linkage is adjusted correctly, I would say it's the syncro.

generally the syncro teeth on 2nd gear are worn / tapered so when there is light load it can push the syncro hub forward & kick out of gear
Passon will have the needed replacement gear & you can get him to diagnose the problem as well

There's a local guy here who owns a shop. He races a 69 RR 440. Had it since 70.  He'd probably be able to help me. What do I need to do?  Rebuild the tranny? :-[      How do I get ahold of Passon?
