There goes my car time...
« on: March 14, 2007 - 02:24:50 PM »
I had 6 days set aside to work on my car. Well day two now, and I was tweaking my sandblasting booth by adding a wood door and a door handle. I was using a wood chisle and it slipped and went into my hand between my thumb and index finger. Had to go to the emergency room and have xrays taken and 6 stitches. Now my left hand will be out of commision for at least 4 days if not longer till my muscles repair themselves hard to move my thumb now.

Sorry if my typing is bad.

Just had to vent a little. Guess I can get caught up on everyting else now.

Sorry to hear about your accident. It always seems that we try to plan some time to work on the cars or such something happens. Like last year cutting some wood with tablesaw and I left off the guard. Just as I was finishing last piece my left hand flys up in the air like somebody pulled it with a rope. It seems that my index finger hit the blade and cut off about a 1/4 inch of it off. I wrapped it up and drove to hospital like a mad man bleeding all over the place. It took about seven stiches to pull the loose flap of skin over the top of finger. It looks a little funny and I still have no feeling in tip but it could have been much worse. I didn't get to work on car or anything else for a while.

Nothing like a self-inflicted wound to bring your ego down to size.  :bricks1: I have been down that road a couple of times. It's funny, you see this red stuff on everything you touch, and don't even realize it is coming from you. I guess I don't feel pain as much as others.  :clueless:

Sucks big time lunch, I had the same thing happen about a week ago.  I was sanding with one of those abrasive pads on the 4.5 inch grinder, the thing kicked back on me, took my left index finger's knuckle almost to the bone.

I figured I was pretty smart to put safety glasses on, just not smart enough for gloves.   :bricks1:

So what did I do?  Took a clean rag, wiped up the blood, tied it on my finger, and kept sanding.

Oh Man O Man O Man...... Can I relate to this one!!!!! You ever heard the Stanley tool catch phrase " Stanley when you wanna get the job done right" A few years back I put a brand new one ( which by the way to those of you who don't know... new ones are as sharp as a razor!!!!!!!!!) Any way went right threw the first finger tedon at the main knuckle and half way through the second.... Emergency surgery.. later orthoscopic surgery... I still have limited use of my left hand and always will! The really bad thing is I knew it was coming and did it anyway... Man it's hurtin just tellin the story.  And of course I did it at home... I never get hurt at the shop...
