Need identification help

is there a site that can decode the stamp numbers i listed for the cowl or radiator?

on the radiator support B0 25730

on the cowl B3 64300

The numbers in bold are the vehicle sequence number (which should be the same as the last six on the dash vin plate), which is unique to each vehicle. I think what Barry is thinking is that the rad support and dash were changed at one time or another and that the cowl is probably the correct number since it is less likly to have been damaged it a accident and is way harder to change then the rad support.

Quoted from earlier post. The B0 25730 is missing one number, but B0 is for a car with a 0B VIN, or 1970 Hamtramck plant. If you can see what the missing digit is I may be able to tell you if the radiator support is from a Challenger or Barracuda.

Same deal for B3 564300, it would be from a 1973 model built at Hamtramck, and the VIN of the original car would have ended in 3B564300.

In my opinion the car is a '73 because Basin Street Blue paint is most common on '73s. Also it looks like it might have had big bumper that were moved in.

no it doesnt...   surprise surprise...

Im pretty depressed.  I guess i will be goign to see the DMV tomorrow and see what they can do.  I like the car and i'd rather figure out a way to make it right and register it as a 73.  I'm guessing the jerk i bought it from will be unlkely to want to come up with the cash refund.  I'm afraid that Nevada might want to impound it and then i would be out the car and the money.  Guess i will know tomorrow.

You might want to check the number stamped on the engine and transmission.  If they match the 564300 number the odds are highly in favor of your car being a '73.  If they do match the silver lining is that you have the original drive train in the car.

I spoke with the DMV guy today.  He was pretty optimistic.  He said they can find some "hidden" original VIN tag and recreate the original.  If it doesnt come up as stolen, they will re-issue a 73 VIN for it so i can register it.  Going to bring it in tomorrow.

That sounds great. The important thing here is that you have a car that you are happy with. I would be happy as a pig in crap to have a 1973 Cuda. From what I have seen (I don't know alot about Cudas - Actually I don't know squat about anything) the 1970 and 1971s are carrying the higher price tags, but personally there is a 73 on this site that I would take over any of the 70 and 71's.

I think what he meant was the sequence number on the engine or trans may match the cowl number.

Well i broke free from work early and went to the DMV...  I cant begin to tell you how fun it is explaining the details of this situation to ever worker that my case got passed too blindly...

Long and the Short...  They looked up the real VIN from the cowl information.  So now I know what it really is...  They are running some "teletype" reports on both the VIN's 70 & 73 to see if either one is stolen i suppose.  I'm supposed to come back in 10 days and hear the good news.  If the real VIN is clear, then they will stamp out a new metal VIN tag and mount it on the acr so i can register.  If it isnt i suppose i get to meet some of my towns legal practitioners.

What does the door vin sticker say?

The door vin is gone, so is the fender plate.  Only the bogus dash pad is there.  Thankfully they didnt take the time to grind out the cowl#
