    Rallye To Standard Cluster?

    How hard is it to convert from the rallye cluster to a standard cluster? I'm wanting to convert to a standard cluster for my modern gauge purposes. I like the look & fitment of the standard cluster with modern gauges. I've had a word to the resto guys and we've discussed what we want to do with the 'Cuda, modern touches etc.

    Can I buy a standard cluster and it will go straight into a rallye clusters position, no mods?  :dunno:

    Wowsa Carl,

      This is the opposite of what is usually posted.  :lol: You will have a wire to the tach from the coil to ignore, but the only problem I see is you need to change the sending unit for the oil pressure gauge. On a good note, the sending unit you will need is cheaper than the one for the Rally gauges.  :thumbsup: If you go to the standard gauge pod in your dash, you will need the standard gauge switch panel to match too.

    Yupe, it's probably as rare a question as the manual to auto threads. :lol: With the thoughts and ideas I have in my head it will be a very smart interior once complete. Modern looking but not too far out of this world, classy and not cheap with comfort and modern tech rolled into one. You'll see.....  ;) Thanks for the help Mike, I will keep an eye out for the standard gauge pod and switch panel. So, fitment wise, the standard cluster should go straight in?

    Yes, It will go straight in, but the standard gauge light bar is different, as I've been told. Also, you have to think about the lower panels around the heater gauge, and radio. They are different on a standard gauge setup too. Then again, cheaper to find.  :grinyes:

    I just pulled this stuff out,I think it's everything that you are looking for including the light bar.

    NZ, you probably know this already but it's one thing that hasn't been mentioned. The rallye dash harness has a wire for the oil pressure gauge and the stardard dash harness terminates with a bulb socket for the oil pressure idiot light.

    I can pay via Paypal and would have it shipped Express or 6-8 days, what ever seems fair. I'm in no rush but prefer to have them here quickly rather than sit around some Mexican wharf for several weeks being used as an ash tray.  :lol:

    I'm still not 100% sure what you're meaning but no doubt my resto team will know and do what has to be done.
    Thanks for the heads up. Can't want to get some new modern gauges in and turn this 'Cuda into a "G-Machine".

    NZ if you want to run the original 70 standard guages you will need the 70 only guage cluster and bezel.  I know you want to run aftermarket guages.  The guage cluster housing is different to work with the 70 bezel.  I would use the Rallye light bar.  The difference is it has more lights and is brighter.

    Thanks but as you said I'll be running modern gauges. :cheers: If I didn't the rallye cluster would be staying without a doubt. Love the look but it's too factory for this car and finding 5 x 5" gauges to fit and look good is impossible. I'll get the one 5" and 4 2-1/6"? gauges to fit. They'll be black or carbon faced and once complete be flush, not sticking out of the cluster like most leave them, this will or give the appearance to the average Joe that they could  be factory.

    Long ways off yet but I have plenty of ideas for this car..........  :woohoo:

    Are you building you own cluster and bezel or are you going to use the factory housing and bezel?

    I'll be using the standard factory bezels/cluster and fitting modern gauges. :thumbsup: Similar to Sick Fish below but a little more custom work and black or carbon faced  gauges (so they don't stick out too much).

    Yeah Carl, I love the look of the standard dash with nice guages...had plans to do that to my Blue car. This is the pic I had I was going by.   :2thumbs:
