How do I convince my wife to move south?
« on: March 19, 2007 - 05:11:22 PM »
Every year I hate winter more and more and I`m almost ready to pack up and head south, only problem is I need to convince my wife. The main thing holding her here is all her family lives in the area and she is close with them.Jobs are not a issue as she is kinda sick of hers anyway and I` always like a change.I have a possible job opportunity down in NC at a new shop working on some of The Great Race cars.I`ve been throwing out a lot of comments about how nice the weather is,cheaper cost of living, how nice and warm it is,  :poopoke:  etc. but I need something to really get her excited about it.Any ideas to help me out?    :naughty:

Take her there for a weekend and maybe she will like it so much she will try to convince YOU to move there.

I was gonna suggest the same thing.I have been thinking along those lines also, but if we go I was thinking of what is an attraction to my wife?I mean if we go I can't be looking for salvage yards and car stuff.

If you want to take her south for vacation, do it now.  In July & August NC can get pretty hot & she won't want to go back.

Take it from someone who knows....I'm trying to do the reverse!  I'm from New England and want to go back to Boston SOOOO bad.....I live in Orlando, FL now and while the weather is nice and all, not having family here makes it a drag.  I can handle the winters, but my wife can't.  She absolutley hates the cold, so I don't think there is any hope for me getting her to move.  I've been doing all the things mentioned; traveling to Boston 3 or 4 times a year to show her around, showing her nice houses, how great it is to have family near by......but it all seems for nothing.....she doesn't want to budge.  Oh well.....I tried..... :smilielol:

What does she like?  Do a little advance scouting and when you come south, take her to the stuff in the area that you know in advance she will like........     :cooldancing:

When all else fails, bribe her.....         :bigshades:

Hey Torredcuda, when I was 10 my whole family relocated 6000km across canada to the other side of the country, Dad got offered a great job as shop foreman at a Toyota dealer. My mom was dead against it and I remember her crying the whole trip.....we decided to move back home 2 years later, and she cried the whole way back. She had the best job she ever had, didn't have family in her business all the time and she ended up not wanting to leave. Now I live on the opposite side of the country and she talks about wanting to move back out all the time.

Guess what i'm saying is, family is what keeps people from moving, but when you finally move, noone seems to regret it...I know I sure don't.

My girlfriend is always asking to move south...lol, just may someday if the right opportunity comes up!  :2thumbs:

This is easy. Ask her family to move in with you.

All of them.

She will be ready to move anyplace you like in no time at all........

Best of luck!

I recommend that you take her to the coast on your possible vacation there and then go on a long walk on their beautiful beaches they have on the coast. This will be a real eye opener for her versus what living is like where you are at now.
