You won't believe what the AS*HO*LS in PENNDOT are doing!

The idiots in charge of PENNDOT (PA Dept of Transportation) are NUTS!

They just put new laws in effect as of January 1, that require special inspections and retitling of vehicles if you make changes to them!

Now, I can understand special construction, reconstructed, salvage, etc. But they went too far!

This is so rediculous, it's absurd. If you replace your motor, you need to reinspect AND RETITLE your car! The same thing goes if you change your exhaust, change the suspension, or get this, if your car is considered a collector vehicle, and your paint fades, or gets rust on it! So if you replace the motor one year, change the exhaust the next year, replace your drum brakes with disc brakes the next year, you would have to get your car reinspected AND RETITLED each time. And if your paint fades or changes over time, you would have to get it reinspected AND RETITLED again!!!!!!!!!!

This is nothing more than a blatantly obvious attempt to extort money out of the car and vehicle enthusiasts in the state of PA.

Does anyone know anyone that has legal experience that can begin to mount a resistance movement to this stupid, stupid piece of SH*T legislation?

I say F%&k em. Pardon my french, but if they want to play that game I would just ignore tham, and let them try and prove I messed witht the car. The cost to monitor that is astronomical. California has made several attempts to try and rid the state of classic cars, luckily SEMA and other organizations have limited their attempts. Find out how difficult it would be to register your car in another state. A lot of people I know who collect cars and even some that just want to save on registration fees register their cars in Oregon and don't have to deal with the California BS. I love how these politicians have no idea or don't car how much the classic car industry affects the economy.

Jerry where did you see this? I don't see how that can be enforced unless they have done some major changes to the inspection laws that I'm not aware of as who else would monitor it. But it would not suprise me either.

I was wondering the same thing? With Antique Tags In Pa we don't have to have them inspected. An PA can kiss my a$$ , I wouldn't tell them I didn't anything to my car, prove it.

This is nothing more than a way to create yet another profit center. They will probably require all service stations to file a report of what is on your car anytime that it is taken in for any service. This will drive up the cost on everything from having tires mounted to an oil change. Be thankful that we can do most of the work on our cars ourselves. This is scary since PA is right next door. How far of a drive is Cuba

Hi Dave. They have been running articlees about it in the PA Auto Connection magazine. I occasionally write articles for it when I go to car shows or swap meets. I don't know if you guys get it over there, because it's a local Car Trader type publication in Central PA. You might have access to it, because I see ads from people in Pgh. They're free, and usually get put in places like grocery stores, Sheetz stores, etc. The Mar 14 issue has an interview with the head of Penndot where he answers some questions. The new issue will be out tomorrow morning, so try to get the current issue today. If I can figure out how, maybe I can scan the article and upload it here.

They're going to set up, or designate certain existing inspection stations as "Special" inspection station, and all special interest vehicles (reconstructed, special construction, modified, flood, recovered theft, collectible, street rod) can only be inspected at these stations. If there isn't one in your area, you have to travel to the closest one. Any change can move your vehicle from one category to another, requiring you to re-title your vehicle. The average guy won't really be affected, but it's really going to affect people like us.

It's going to be a real mess. Imagine, having to get a new title if your paint fades! He says that right in the article!   Unreal!

Sounds to me to be easy to beat...just register your car with a standard title and tag....get it inspected anywhere that does inspections. All my old mopars have always had standard tags.

If you have antique tags, you dont need any inspection...so how will that work?
