Nope, no key. I guess I can get it keyed but then I would have to match that key to my console and trunk right? Ugh, guess I know now why I never locked the glove box lol.

I had to search for this because it was time to assemble my glove compartment lock and I couldn't get my lock apart. After fighting it for about 45 mins, I decided to look for my post. After reading my own instructions, I see that  I forgot to take the key out.  Luckily, I had "TAKE THE KEY OUT" in my post above.  I edited it to say it more than once now so you can't say that you didn't see it. I also added that using the key during reassembly lets you slide it right into the latch.

Maybe we can make this a sticky?

Thanks.  Just what I needed!  I saved it to a Word file, printed it and filed it in my projects book for future reference.

Good info 4 months ago. I destroyed / lost all the pins trying to reassemble mine. When I get a new cylinder this will be real handy.

What if your latch (I call it a latch because it has no key hole to insert a key to lock it).
Anyone have one like this?

Cheers!

I do not have a key...   SO...  to paint the glove box door, I removed the two screws in the back... and this gives enough "slop" that I was able to put masking tape under the key mechanism, and then tape it up and paint.

I know this is an old thread but does anybody happen to have the pictures that were originally posted?  Or perhaps someone can post the word document they created from here?  The pics are not showing anymore.  Thanks.

Thanks Katfish!  I guess the latch mount doesn't need to be removed first since it's not mentioned?  I'll try it later today.

I just got my dash, glove box door and ashtray back from the powder coater, and the hardest thing was that damn lock lol.I didn't have a key,and dropped it off at 3 locksmiths and nobody could do it.One guy didn't even want to try.The powder coater ended up getting the lock off,and I went to the fall fling and bought a new  one with key.Even reassembly was kind of a pain.
