Do you have a wiring diagram for it?   If you do, could you send me a copy of it?   Of course I can't see how your truck, but I've heard that the QC on the Squier wiring harness isn't that good.   There was another guy on here that got a harness with a couple of wires switched.

Id start by checking the plugs at the alternator and make sure they are all as the diagram says they should be.  Just don't assume its not the harness.

I would like a copy of the harness diagram if you have one though. :naughty:

Thanks and good luck,

Chris

Ohhh, trust me, in the time I've worked on it, I've checked everything.  I've even talked with Tony and another guy on the phone 3 or 4 times WHILE I was actually standing there inspecting it, doing everything he told me to check.  Everything checks out fine.  The wires go where they are supposed to.  There are only two wires in the plug, one goes to ground, the other goes to the computer, and both are good, and connected.  I even went so far as to have my cousin come over with his Hemi Ram and change alternators, it still didnt charge.   >:(

No, I dont have a diagram, I think he thought about that one already.  Otherwise I would have found out how to get the factory harness to work.  I had it and sold it on ebay, managed to get $100 for it.

So you've been up and down and all around this already.  Well I hope you get it figured out soon, so you can get some road time on your truck before the snow flies.....or has it already?

Snow has fallen and melted, but its been really cold, temps havent gotten above freezing all week.   :sadwavey:

And my truck has a lot of sheetmetal work left.  It drives and stuff, but I need to put the box/doors/hood back on.

hey Steve sorry about the charging problems  :stomp: is the alternator hooked to the battery or to something else? Try running a wire strait off the alternator to the battery if it’s not already.  :dunno:

In addition, can you probe the pcm harness plug to make sure you don’t have a broken wire going to the pcm from the alternator plug?  :eek4:

Good luck

Yep Scott, I've tried everything.  The continuity is fine.  The thick 4 guage wire or whatever it is from the positive on the battery goes directly to the starter, to the large under dash main hot wire, and to the big 3/8 stud on the alternator.  This cant be this hard, I know I'm going to feel really stupid when this gets figured out.  I called the guy from the dealership to ask again if he'd come out, I think he forgot.  He said hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday he could come out and put some fancy pants scanner on.

Just a thought try going straight to the battery from the alternator.

Like, minus to the starter and dash?  Or, a jumper wire to the plug or something?

Not really getting you here...   :clueless: :1zhelp:

Yes ; minus to the starter and dash just to the battery, and the battery to the starter relay and the starter realy to the starter.

you could use a heavy jumper wire just disconect the part going to the dash. unless you need power to the dash to make it run.

Well, the harness guy and I worked for an hour and a half two days ago.  We narrowed it down to the computer.  Even though the computer worked fine on a test truck.  So I sent it back yesterday.  In the meantime I ordered headlights, relays, and universal headlight "plugs" that plug in the back of the light.  I bought some ebay halogen ones.  Give me something to do while I wait for the computer.   :hyper:

Still waiting on the seat.  I'm going to have a major setback a week from today, I'm going in for hernia surgery.   >:(

I am sorry to hear about all of your troubles.  You are really young to need hernia surgey.  How did that happen?

Not sure, I just knew I had one.  I had one back in seventh grade, too.  Second one for me.  I've had two right wrist surgeries, too.  I just work too hard.   :roflsmiley:

WOW, you do work hard.  Will the surgey be quick type (two small cuts) or are they going to cut you open?

Oh, I'm getting cut open.  They told me it takes an hour, hour and a half.  4-6 weeks till I can really lift anything over 15-20 pounds.  So I just have to do piddly stuff on my truck, but that stuff has to get done, too.
