He's become a legend, because guys like us made him that, through word of mouth. Now, all of the big guns are taking up his time, so he no longer has time for guys like us. I can imagine, that after so many years of dealing with run-of-the-mill vehicles, his only excitement comes from finding something truely rare or new, kind of like a coin or stamp collector looking to discover that next unknown error or one of a kind item.

I've heard from a lot of people that his service sucks, but then again, he's only one guy, and everybody is after him, so that's what usually happens. Would you be happy if one of his "assistants" verified your car? Of course not, so he has to do it all himself, and just like eveyone else, he's going to pay attention to the big money. He charges money for travel expenses, because that's what consultants do (that's what he really is). In the past, our company has paid consultants thousands of dollars, plus all expenses, for just a few hours of their time. It's the way of the business world.

As far as his prices, I don't think he's all that bad. I have a 71 Corvette that is a possible Baldwin Motion Corvette (very rare). If you want  Baldwin to verify a car for you, he charges several thousand dollars, and all he does is look up the VIN number on his master list.

I'm not defending G.G., I'm just saying that there are always two sides. Of course, that is no reason to ignore or stiff your customers, but in the end, it won't really matter. The big guns will always be after him, and he'll be happy to kiss their arses.

My opinion is, and has always been, he's not worth it, unless you have a truely rare car that you want to get a few more bucks out of because of his blessing. Otherwise forget him, and his crap. You can do anything he does with a little bit of research, and the collective knowledge and help of sites like C-C.

I see what you're saying and agree to a point however, the end equation is really quite simple.
If he can't do the job within a reasonable (1 week) time frame - don't take the job on.

He's quite happy to take their money just a pity his enthusiasm to grab money isn't the same for doing his job.

He is The Man when it comes to documentation of these cars.  BUT, if I had a Cuda or Chally that I wanted certification done, I would place my trust in the knowledgable folks at C-C.Com.  I have watched folks work tirelessly here trying to help someone get that last little detail worked out from a fender tag, broadcast sheet, or whatever info they have.  In the end, EVERY time, there is total agreement among the members about the validity of the car and it's options, trim, etc.  If the truth was as well known as G.G. is, it wouldn't be long until you would begin seeing "Car Has Been Certified By The Fine Folks At C-C.Com" instead of a G.G. certification.  Great group here......

I have a friend that has been waiting since 2001 for his documentations from GG. It is now March of 2007. Just how long do you think a person paitance should last? I would think he cannot be that booked up. I have NO problem with his fees if you get what you pay for. But when I waited 4 years and when I finally get it and it is full of mistakes I have a problem. Then just get ignored when I try to get it corrected. As said before I will never deal with this *sshole again and I tell everyone that the subject comes up about my dealings with him.

Okay, I thought about not replying to this but I have to.  Galen is slow at the process I agree, but doesn't every need to step back and think how many people are asking him the same thing.  How many were made, how many are left, what this option................................. Bet it's tiring

We were as the Don Garlits show in Ocala two years ago and he was there.  Early Sunday mornings he came over and started talking to us.  We both knew who he was so we offered him a seat and he gladly accepted.  He sat and talked to us for over an hour just about any thing.  He really isn't as bad as everyone makes him out to be.

Yes he has cornered the market on information that we all want.  None of us saw that coming.  He provides a sevice that no one else can.  I have done business with him and yes it took along while for it to be returned but I am happy with the results.

FY1443433

He may not be a terrible guy,I dont know. But as everyone else said, his business pratices are terrible.I dont care how many people are buying info from him, anyone can at a minimum let a customer know either by email or phone they are working on your order, and return a phone call within a MONTH!,or at least let them know that they have your payment and are processing.Have you ever bought anything online and never heard anything for months???Be realistic,it would piss you off too and you would probably never buy from them again.Consider buying a computor or something online, months or years pass with no contact and no calls returned, what would you do???I also also SURE all this stuff is in a program he just punches up and Whalla a decode with his docs.

I agree with OS,when I have had a ? about anything on this site the people here have always come through. And the best part, within a 24 hour time frame.I had a friend get GG up here to verify his 70 barracuda vert, the best part was that everything he told him about his car I could have told him for free. But my friend worships the ground the man walks on,so I just stand back and keep my mouth shut. His car ,his money and I can laugh all I want.Thats why when he wanted to lowball me on some parts I had,I made the point of him paying GG big bucks and me the pennies, that he could have saved the money he spent on that info and paid for the parts and had what he needed.

I sent in a payment for a decode on my superbee over 3 months ago,I know it takes a while and i have left 4 messages over the past month via phone to check status. Not ONCE did anyone return my phone calls.I dont really mind if it takes a while but the NO return phone calls to check status is unforgiveable and unethical to not let customers inquire about their orders-NEVER AGAIN!!!
+1 !!!  I've been waiting 3 years now for a return phone call, hell, I don't even have the car anymore!!!!!!!!

I was surprised, you don't hear anything bad about his business practices, until I saw this thread, so its not just me.  Or it could be I had a "lowly" '71 Challenger, it wasn't a 1 of 2 ever made, that I paid 10 million for, and like I was going to fly him over here to check it out.......Don't know the man personally, but I can't say much for how he handles customers.

I wonder if any of the Ford guys have a problem with the Marti reports??

Needs to be an alternative, maybe something like what the NCRS is for the Vette guys???

Marti reports are done correctly and in a timely manner. Too bad he doesn't do Mopars. I'd like to have a little cash left over to eat lunch with, not wine and dine a self professed guru!!!

I was at the mopar nationals the last year and saw a car for sale in the car coral with a sign that said "Galen has never been near this car".  Made me chuckle.

unless he actually sees the car type verification is done its useless, a de-code of a fender tag or build sheet is meaningless.

You would think with all of the money he is making, he would spend a few bucks to put customer status up on a website, so you could check it once in a while. Kind of like when you call someplace and they say "You are the 5th caller in line." I know he has to do them one at a time, but at least you would be able to see if you are moving or not.
