Well Galen has had my order for a fender tag for over six months. After being lied to several times when the tag would be delivered I finally had enough and cancelled my order. The lady on the other end of the line said she had my tag in hand ready to go. I said that I couldn't believe them anymore with their prior misleading statements and asked her to send my stuff back. On the upside my info was back to me in a few days from GG. I placed an order with Backeast two weeks ago and I already have it and for cheaper. The only thing I got out of my six month wait was a GG decode of my tag that Barry already helped me with.  :grinyes:

Just another heads up for everyone.

I had 3 fellow Mopar club members that were going to get Galen to check out their cars when he was in the area for a car show.  He gave them an estimate of around $600 each to make sure they were all matching numbers & write up the paperwork for them.  When he showed up, he informed them that because of the big backlog of work that he had, he had raised his price to $1600 each!! :eek2:  I can understand that he can charge whatever he wants & maybe by raising his rates he can give better service, but it seems a like if he had already given them an estimate, he would have honored that price.  :money: :money:

Yeah, because it's so hard to check body, engine and tranny numbers.  I can see a time years ago when a service like that was needed but if you can't check your own numbers and dates by now...

I know what your saying, "But Pete, there are so many people stamping out their own blocks ect"

SO WHAT!  This is the reason there are more matching number cars now then there was 20 years ago. If you have to spend $1600 to be sure, go back to Corvettes

SO we can assume  you work for free?

its all about the $$$$$$. i had considered having him do a visual on my car so i called for a price. i was told i would have to pay part of his air fair to englishtown and the amount would depend on how many inspections he was doing. i said even if he does none he will be there anyway so why should i pay. i was told thats the way it is. he is a greedy, money hungry, good for nothin POS looking for a free ride at the expense of hobbyists. the only credit i give him is reuniting build sheets with cars at no charge. lets see how long that lasts until they come up with some kind of processing or handling fee

In a sense I agree with this. When people stop paying him for his bad behavior he'll either stop behaving like an ass or he'll o out of business. As long as people keep paying him whatever he asks he's got carte blanche to continue.

It’s not about working for free, it’s about having customer service, integrity, and fair prices. Changing prices, back and forth with no rhyme or reason is another problem.

I heard he went to inspect two cars from two different people in the same city and charged EACH of them for his flight and hotel separately (double charge) for one trip!!!  What a guy!

I have never had any dealings with the man but just from reading Mopar Action I got the feeling he was disliked. They regularly call him the "Gumbers Nuru" I am sure it is a slap of sorts or they just refuse to do free advertising for the man. I am pretty sure I will never own the kind of car that needs his service. Karma will catch up to the guy eventually.   :villagers:

Mopar Collector Guide still lists him as a contributing writer but it's been a long time since I've seen an artical from him. I may be missing something but I noticed close to a year ago his articals were gone. I for one don't miss them and wish he would just dry up and blow away!

The only way to get a reply from him is to contact the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Affairs.  That's what worked for me after waiting 6 months.
