I usually try to stay away from shell, but not because of the brand.  Just because the shell gas station owner in my town is a crook.  Its always 9-15 cents more at his gas station than anywhere else, just because he is the only gas station in a certain direction.  In my daily driver I put 87 (volvo 850)  in my Scout II I put 87, pretty much the only thing I put 89 or 91 in is my dads volvo 850R or our 71' Opel GT thats a little built up.

There is no such thing as a 7-11,costco or johnny-qwik refinery. All delivery trucks(at least in calif)pull into the same chevron plant to fill their tank as any other gas station/trucking company.

Just because it says "Exxon" or "Texaco" on the sign doesn't mean that's what is in the tank. I've seen tankers filling the tanks at local gas stations in my area and it ain't what's on the sign.  :swear: I run premium in both my Mopars. $3 dollars a gallon baby, it's coming!! Cost me $5 bucks just to cut my grass!!

I should be so lucky to pay $3.00 per gallon...........Up here in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada I pay approx $4.50 for reg and $5.00 for premium..........and u guys think u have it bad..........Kim..........

I used to think they were all the same.
I had always ran chevron regular in my Boat w/ 5.0 liter EFI Mercruiser I/O since new (6 seasons).
It had always ran rich with noticeable fumes at idle and the white fibreglass transom would be sooted black after a day on the water.
One day it didn't do any of those things and my wife was the one that reminded me that I had filled it with Shell gas for a change. I now boat w/ Shell.

It seems to make a difference in some engines.
