air filter for heater box
« on: March 25, 2007 - 12:03:43 PM »
I know that newer cars have a filter in theit heater box in them to keep pollen, mold spores, dust out of the incoming air from the heater box. Has anybody ever adapted this into their heater box? I'm rebuilding mine and while it's apart I wanted to know if anyone ever did this before.

Not me. I do enjoy the occasional leaf blowing thru though.  I'm not sure how that happens, but the leaves are something that I have never seen before.  :screwy: They must be DEEPLY imbeded, and from the previous owner in Florida.

Last time I took my car out, I got it up to speed quickly and was immediately media blasted out of the vents!  I would think that if you had the box out you could set some sort of filter assy up in the intake portion.  Not sure how easy it would be to change the filter though. :dunno:

i found out that the micro air filters that Nissan puts in their cars is a 50,000 mile maintaince interval. While I have it apart, I'm going to explore the possibility of putting one in. A plastic screen over a square car air filter was one idea I had considered.
