Hey gang....
Once again, I have an E-body question. What are the number of individual springs/halves that make up the springs of Challenger R/T's with a 440-six pack.

Are those 6 and seventh one's "half" leafs like what's on the B-bodies?....... Should there be 5 complete leafs and then one half on the left and two on the right?.......

I'm asking the question from my experiences with B-bodies.. Take for example; a 383 powered '70 Road Runner has smaller leaf springs than a 440+6 or 426 Hemi equipped Road Runner...... Sooooooo, on that train of thought, maybe the E's are the same way.........

By increasing the resistence of the right spring, it prevents torque rolling that side of the car down and causing torque steer in the rear end to push the car off in that direction when launched.

You are close.  :grinyes: On E-Bodies, all the big blocks had the extra leaf in the rear springs. In other words, 383's had it too.

So, the HD, Hemi-suspension, was standard issue on the R/T's? A friend seems to think that the "Hemi" suspension was an option.. I don't think it was for it was part of the R/T package....... My friend Hoss on his '71 v-code Challenger has leaf springs that are 6 on each side... Of course, like I told him, that doesn't mean that the springs are original to the car....

Does anyone have pictures of the left and right springs on a 440+6 Challenger or 'Cuda? Well, I guess Mike from what you're saying, any R/T would do..... He has a set of leaf springs from Mopar Performance, but they are the 6 each-side version.......

My car was originally a 383 car, but I counted 6 leafs each side when I removed the original springs. I really don't think there is a 7th leaf.  :dunno:

OK, just because I'm a nice guy... if nobody responds tonight, I'll pull my rear wheels tomorrow and snap a picture of each.

Thanks Mike...

I've search the internet all day yesterday via ebaymotors, dealsonwheels, etc to find Challengers with the possibility of a good picture of the leaf springs on a R/T....

Here is a somewhat poor picture. It doesn't show enough detail to explain the orientation. Unlike B body springs, new E body springs from Mopar have 6 leafs left and right, but I forget the orientation of the last few leafs.  I think one side has a half leaf that points backwards and the other side has a half leaf that points forwards. B bodies have 5 full leaves, the left has one extra half leaf and the right has two half leafs, if I remember correctly. I'ts been a while since I checked an XHD pack.
