Ok, I went over to the barracuda and took some pictures for us. It is all numbers matching 318 with a/c and complete. Has the fender tag, dash vin, cowel vin, rad core support and door tag. The owner said he had the build sheet in the house too.

No rust on the frame rails at all, no rust on the inner fenders they are still gray. The drivers floor pan will need a partial patch where your feet set. I guess from dirty watery shoes over the years. The other floor pans as far as I could see are good. The middle of the trunk pan has a few holes and surface rust. Consider everything in the interior needing rebuilt ie...seat covers, headliner, panels,dash and carpet. The back glass corners will need to be fixed.

I will show these pics and make more comments in a while if need be. I am with my dad right now discussing his surgery.

We did start this car up and drive it in and out of his shop. It has dual exhaust. Fuel pump is leaking and the freeze plugs. It has been in storage for 28 yrs from what I am told. The grill has 1 small crack and the car comes with the original pass fender and 2 red doors a flat hood and the sport hood on it. The interior has some other things in it for it like the fan shroud and some other small items. The switch assembly is in the back seat and so was the trunk lock metal brace.

No G codes on the fender tag, i can't ever remember a 73 E body with a manual driver side mirror. It's nice to have a living breathing vehicle as a starting point

Thanks for posting all the photos, Al!  Even with the issues it has here and there, I still think it's a great start for the money.  Though I don't really have any extra parts I can part with from my car, hopefully there's enough extra things other members have here and there to make this car a nice reality for Don.   It appears everyone else is in agreement that this is the car, so hopefully Laura will be announcing soon that C-C.com has bought their first car.

The car is in Albertville Alabama, about 20 minutes from I-59 just a little above Gadsden Al. Not sure where the car is going for the body work. It's south of Chattanooga Tn about 130 miles or so. 2.5 or less from Atlanta. 1 hr from birmingham, 2.5 from Nashville, so it is in a good location for any member in these areas to help out.  My work schedule is always iffy, or I would try and get some things happening for it. I do know the upholstery shop here is very good and it would be around 200 to install the covers here. The windshield had 1 rock chip in a round circle, if it's not fogged, 35 bucks can fix that.  The car seemed to actually run real good for setting for 28 yrs. And the trans went right into gear, so Maybe just pulling the engine , add new water pump freeze plugs, gasket sealing sets, timing chain and oil pump, and the engine could keep on going. It didnt knock or anything. Wish I could find ways to help more, but after my dads surgery the 29th, I will be traveling for work for 30 days.  Sorry I cant do more unless it comes in between my 2 week off schedule in may.

If the gang here chooses this car to donate, then a game plan needs to take effect fairly quick in some kind of specific order.

Drivetrain, brakes, suspention, cooling system
Body work
Interior and trim

Not sure what's going on with all original or new rally rims and tires/vs hub caps
Small cam and 4 barrell intake vs 2 bbl
Sport mirrors vs single standard
Dual exhaust pan and tips vs turn downs

Someone may have to be in charge of how all this will be done, verify who's doing it
Keep track of all donations and money spent
locate and ship parts on time to designated people doing the different parts of the car
Figuring time schedules on what jobs and locations,  (this is critical)
Co ordinating transports.
I think one person should have full knowledge of all scheduling and have access to every phone number address and requirements needed in all tasks, and this person would run a commity of people to keep the person informed in all areas. That make any sense?

I have an 4bbl intake for a 340 with carb and I have an old set of headers that can be refinished  (if they will fit a 318?).  I may have a decent set of spark plug wires that I only used for a few months on my car.  I have to see what else I have that I could send out.  I know I have a pretty good pair of door handles too. 

It seems like this car needs a lot of work, but at the price we can afford, it doesn't seem like we will find something better than this.  It is a really good start for the $$$.

Al, it sounds like you have a good idea with coordinating who will do what tasks.
April, as long as you don't have any special aftermarket heads on your 340 (like W-2s), then the small block headers are interchangeable among all small blocks (273-360).

That's what I thought Mark.  They aren't in the best of shape, but I sure ould clean them up and paint them with the exhaust manifold por 15 paint (aluminum look).

I found a set of white sunvisors today off my other car. I didnt even notice if it had visors or not. But I did notice the glove box was there.    Most are gone and tore up by now.

Im a just 30 minutes away from the car right now (tonight) my dad has surgery tomorrow, so I will be on this side of straight mountain a few days.

Looks like this one needs possible Qtr's, probably outer wheel houses, and trunk floor Ext's. Definately the trunk floor. Around the back window looks a little scary. A donar section would be nice, but it could be fabricated. Needs a rear valance.

If we can get some of the major venders to contribute with steel and parts for the interior we would have the basics only set.

Are we still planning to do a finished driver? I don't think there is enough time to give Don a finished car by Carlisle this year. However the body could be close to done and present it to Don as an unfinished car and a finished future date for his driving pleasure.

I think the purchase price suits the condition of this car.

I think everyone needs to understand there is a long hard road to completion.
