    Need help on buying a 70 Barracuda

    Well im looking at buying my first Mopar and need a little help. Its a 70 barracuda lime green needs some work has a brand new 383 crate motor . The guy wants 25 thousand I wish i new how to post some pics  has no rust issues and body is pretty clean int needs to be done and a new paint job . I could email some body the pics and maybe they can post for me . Thanks any input is appreciated.

    Looks like a decent cruiser, needs a lot of work from the looks of it though.

    Also there are no "383 crate" engines.... atleast in Mopar.

    Hi Posi where do you live in California?   I think this car has been on Craigs for a couple of weeks now.   I like the car,  not crazy about the hood,  but the price is pretty steep for a barracuda.  I know they are hard to come by though.   Did you ask him what his bottom line price is?

    That certainly doesn't look like a "brand new crate motor" to me.  Overall the car doesn't look too bad, but,  Any rust or bondo under that new paint?

    I live in San Jose That motor doesnt look new to me to. just what he said im going to look at the car Friday. I do not think the guy knows to much about cars the way he is talking to me. He said he has had a while but who knows will see Friday . Thanks everybody

    I see it has a later model dash and steering wheel you may want to check the paper work on it as well.

    The price is too high.  The motor is an aerosol rebuild.

    I saw someone selling long block crate 383 engines on ebay last year. The covers, intake, and valley pan stuff he would of added himself. So it probably was all painted by him. I have seen a bunch of people swap over to the 72-74 wheel, back in the day, lots of people liked that steering wheel. Car has potential and not really in bad shape. Seems a bit high, but find a 70 that doesnt have a lot of rust issues to deal with like that car and your way ahead of the game. If you can get him to lower the price a wee bit, that would be a plus :2thumbs:

    I'd have to agree that the car doesn't look bad from the photos, but there is definitely work needed to be done here and there to make it a really nice cruiser.  As for the price, that is high for a Barracuda Slant six car, even with the 383 under the hood.  I'd expect to see a tag closer to $20,000.00 on a car like that; not $25K. :cheers: :2thumbs:

    The interior needs to be redone for sure, the seats were all green dyed black, I have the rest of the pics and was looking at them, the dye is all coming off everywhere, back seat is split, carpet is shot...heater box is laying on the floor in one pic. If the body was solid it would be worth the close to the $20K...man $20K don't get you much these days in an ebody...makes me mad looking at how nice of a brand X car you can buy for $20K.
