It does look really nice under there.  Are you leaveing the center section bare or is it painted?  It looks bare to me.  The same for the rear swaybar and brackets.  They look bare steel.

There was no evidence these pieces were ever painted so I clear coated...

It's very thin & sprays well, also goes on easily with a sponge brush. The satin finish looks like new steel.

Do you have any pics of your rear drums before you cleaned them up?  Was there any trace of orange paint on them?   I have an origonal pic of my car that seems to show orange drums.

No pictures but the original color, I'm pretty sure, was red not real dark but not bright leaning toward orange maybe & was a lower gloss but not totally flat . This is what I recall & seems that I've read that here some where.  Pose the question to the board & I'm sure someone will have the perfect solution.

Well it's been a long few weeks since any real progress was made, heat & humidity finally set in making hanging out in the garage not any fun..  Tinkered with the new exhaust system quite a bit, installed headers, mini starter then got hung up on the header to exhaust connection. Ended up ordering a 180 bend to get 4-45s out of to make the transition. One side done the other may be complete this weekend. While waiting three weeks for the pipe to arrive I tinkered with making a few longer plug wires & some prototype wire looms.

Is your exhaust pipe regular steel, alumi-coat or stainless?

Can you explain the process you have been using to clean up your bare metal parts?  I've been cleaning up some small brackets with a flap disc on my angle grinder and they are coming out pretty good.  The only thing is that they are coming out pretty shiny.  Are you leaving yours like that or are you dulling them down a little so they are closer to factory appearing?  I found that if you lightly bead blast the parts after they have been sanded smooth, they come out with a matte finish.  Just wondering what you have been doing.  Keep the pics coming!

Most of the odd shaped metal such as the shock mounts I have sand blasted then wire brush on a drill.  Some of the smoother parts such as the sway bar I used a DA sander then hand sanded in a circular pattern.   The flat clear darkens the metal a little, looks a lot like the picture you posted of the painted UCAs.
