K member removal help!
« on: March 29, 2007 - 08:18:49 PM »
Getting ready to pull the K-member from my '74 'Cuda.  Does anyone know of a thread that already exists to help me through this without killing me or the car?

thanks!

Mike

I would look in the body shop area first I think.  I know there are some threads out there.  I did mine a couple months ago . .  pulled it, had it powder coated and then rebuilt it and reinstalled it!   :working:  Looks great!   :woo:

Nothing too it really, while removing I ballanced on my floor jack but had a better idea for the install that I wish I had thought of for removeal. I made a framework out of 2X4s & bolted to it using the sway bar brackets, added a 2X4 rudder to stablize & tilt.

I assume the engine is out ? if so the only issue is the T bars which need to be un loaded first

Yep, the motor is out.  I'll look in the body shop area for info on how to unload the torsion bars.  That's about the only thing I wasn't sure about.

thanks to all!

Just take the load off the T bars & undo the nut on the LCA pivot , remove the clip behind the T bar & pry the Lca & T bar back together to remove the bars
