Power Steering Pump Dilema
« on: March 29, 2007 - 08:59:05 PM »
Well Im gonna fire up the 499 Wedge tomorrow as soon as I get my intake back from the machine shop...So I decided to check fluids etc....But when I took off the power steering pump cap I was amazed to find there was no fluid in it ??? so I got a flash light and looked down in there and was even more suprised  :pullinghair: there was the bottom half of a previous oil cap and the tension spring laying in there  :faint: now what is interesting one day a while ago I opened the hood and there was no PS cap on the powersteering unit ??? so I just went and bought a new one....that thing must have been laying in there a while....I bet this is the mysterious tapping that started in my motor !!! I'lll know tomorrow when I fire up the 499 I guess  :burnout:

lets hope!

I never do an initial start up / break in for 20+ mins with the power steering hooked up , if there is a problem with the steering I am not shutting the engine down for it
