ideas for exhaust tips
« on: March 29, 2007 - 11:36:54 PM »
I have never had any exhaust tips on my Challenger since the valance was added several years ago.  On Thursday, I was in traffic behind a F150 and it had tips that were about 2"x6" squared and they got me thinking.

I was wondering if anyone has come across a squared tip (other than the original) that would look good on the back of a Challenger and not cost a bunch.

Here is rear pic of my Challenger:

I've studied the situation to quite a degree. Gibson makes the 2x6 but they are a little narrow
I saw a custom setup on a late model Mustang that may work but at best the price comes to more than 50% of the cost of reproductions.

I made my own out of stianless steel. cost about 20.00 if you have the equiment. The pics don't do justice. I used the dimentions of a set of cuda tips. If you use cuda tips you have to cut all the pipe off because of the curves in the pipe don't work with a challenger.

Thanks for the repo ideas, but I do not want to have to change my exhaust to make them fit.    :2thumbs:  I may have to make my own to fit right and look good.

70challengerrt, do you have any closer pics of your tips?

I don't remember the vendor but at the Myrtle Beach Run To The Sun Show, they had what appeared to be cuda like tips for $40.00 a set.   They were not for my Challenger so I didn't pay too much attention . Sorry.  You can probably  visit a few shows and luck up on a set.

I've seen some at Walmart that had a European/Ricer look but it was interesting.  $20, dual round upturned pipes.  Each exiting pipe was about 2" in diameter.  Would fill the valence nicely.

Like this but a tip that fits on the end of a single pipe without the muffler.

I think these are the Gibson tips Bullitt mentioned.

I think that is very close to what I saw on the F150, where did you find those?

Thanks for the idea, but I don't think a round tip would look real good in the square valance.

I like those a lot, but I forgot to mention that I have 2 1/4" pipes, would that be a problem with those tips?

I was told these were Camaro tips. I got them at a Super Chevy Show.  I'll measure the pipe opening.  I'm sure you will be fine.  I can't say if they are Chevy or aftermarket.  I'm sure Tractransman has a measurement on his also.
