NE1 use the Bouchillion ac setup?
« on: March 31, 2007 - 12:30:03 AM »
Excuse the spelling first off :roflsmiley:  I se they have a complete under hood kit to use an updated compressor.  Has anyone here used this kit, any feedback?  Thanks

 :iagree:

My car is also factory A/C and I used their compressor and bracket kit. All of the rest are factory lines. There is a video on their website which shows the installation of the underhood kit. I would not be afraid of using their kit as parts I have bought from them in the past work great. The only drawback to any of the kits is you will need to have or have someone with a bubble crimping tool for the hose ends.

I plan to use the entire under hood kit, lines, condenser, etc... would I still need the bubble crimper deal?  Thanks

As for as I know yes, you may be able to talk to them and figure out what way you are going to route the hoses and they may be able to put the ends on for you but I'm not sure they will. All of the kits I have seen have one of the hose ends loose so you can cut the hose to the length you need after routing it.

I'll have to dig through the shops supplies, we may have one here to do it.  Makes sense though, but wish they sold kits based on location, even if they were a little too long.  If not I'd think the place that does hydraulic lines for our rollback could do it.

Well let me clairify a little, they will send you the hoses and you will have to route the hoses where you need them and mark where you need the hose end installed and which direction you need the fitting installed if it is a 90* or 45* fitting. Most will install the fitting after you measure and send the lines back to them detailing how long they need to be. I had the rubber lines on my original lines replaced to use 134A. The company sent me the hoses long and I marked them where I needed them cut and in what direction I needed the fittings to face. Hope this helps.

Robb, I just mounted the switch on the firewall and wired it in series between the A/C switch on the dash control and the compressor. If you have a factory A/C car there should be a green wire running to the low press cutoff switch which you can wire into. I ran the temp sensing line to the suction line leaving the evaporator just behind where the expansion valve sensing tube fits. The best would be to mount the sensing tube in the evap fins but mine was together when I got the switch. It cycles on and off with no problem. (See Pic) Jim

Cool,

a little fuzzy still:

So does the capillary tube actually go "inside" the evaporator or is it on the outside ?  If inside how did you pressure-seal it ?

Are you saying it would be better to have it running on the cabin side of the firewall ?

Thanks for your patience,

Robb

Robb, If your suction line is the same as mine, there is a small tube mounted on the top of it where the capillary tube from the expansion valve slides into. I located the capillary tube from the temp sensor right behind and along that tube and used 3 small hose clamps to hold it in place. Make sure to wrap the lines with "tacky tape" to insulate them. I have actually insulated the entire suction line as it exits the evaporator since I took the pic above. The best setup would be to install the capillary tube into the fins of the evap, but mine works fine like it is. Actually is should get a little colder the way I have it. Hope this helps.

did any of you all use the box they providde with your kit?? if you did you have trouble figuring out where to mount the holes for the new box??? i bought the whole kit  but i am having trouble figuring out where to mount holes. i hate to start drilling holes only to find out they wont work. the direction they provided me with had me to crill a hole  up near the cowl where the drain line line runs on the fire wall! i dont think this was correct. Any pointers???? thanks
