Admittedly, the perspective is off because it's being held pretty far out, but Dang!  that's a big snake.

Yea, cute little fellers  :smokin:

You don't see them that much until the rains at the end of the summer. They come crawling out of the desert and lay out on the road to cool down.  Try not to run them over 'cause they can wrap up in the suspension like an engine belt

Can't you use them in chili?  :clueless:

Rattlesnake Chili Recipe courtesy Team A - Cowboys
Show:  Food Fight
Episode:  Dallas: Cowboys vs. Cityslickers

Vegetable oil
1 large onion, diced
Red Chile Sauce, recipe follows
6 rattlesnake fillets, or 8 ounces meat
Double sweet corn, kernels only, to taste
Poblano peppers, diced, to taste
Serrano peppers, diced, to taste
Jalapeno peppers, diced, to taste
Salt

In a large skillet, heat the oil and add the onions. Cook the onions until they are soft and slightly tender. Add the Red Chile Sauce and the remaining ingredients. Cover the skillet and stew all of the ingredients together for approximately 1 hour. Season the chili with salt.
A viewer, who may not be a professional cook, provided this recipe. The FN chefs have not tested this recipe and therefore, we cannot make representation as to the results.

Yes, rattlesnake is quite tasty - tastes like gamey (sp?) chicken.  Had it fried at a barbecue once.  Later, when I was playing war games at the National Training Center in southern California (right outside Barstow), all we had to eat was those packaged meals the military refers to as MREs.  When one of my buddies found (or maybe it found him???) and killed a 6' rattler, we cooked him up and ate fresh meat for the first time in several weeks that night.

It's better than you think.
