Pic's of diffrence from 4spd console to auto console
« on: April 02, 2007 - 05:51:59 PM »
I am not really sure what the diffrence is between four speed consoles and automatic consoles.  I know that the top wood grain  plate is diffrent but that is the only diffrence that I have found so far.  I only have one console and I am not sure if it is a modified 4speed or an automatic.  thanks

The base is different. The auto can be cut to look the same as the manual. I sent a template to some other members on this sight, maybe one of them took before and after pics. I you have an auto it can be cut and then you just need the top plate.

I don't have my pics on this computer but here is a pic of the side of my 4-spd console I posted a while back. The auto doesn't have the large cutout on the side. Also the top plate is curved around the shifter boot on the drivers side vs the auto which is straight.

Here's another picture of a 4-speed console out of the car.

Thanks guys,  it looks like I have retained my 4 speed console in my cuda.  I believe it came with the car as it is one of the few things the last owner left and said was original to the car.  It has been placed on top of a home made automatic lever system.  Eventually I will replace the tranny and put in the 4 speed it came with originally.  thanks again.
