Something to remember folks,

Cuda Guy is going to be VERY surprised and I am sure a little overwhelmed just receiving what we have right now.  I, for one and I now many other, wish the car could be handed to Don 100% complete.  However, in the short time frame we have until Carlisle that just not going to happen.  We should prioritize our efforts, first, on getting the car closer to Carlisle. Second, gather as many parts and pieces as possible, procuring as many offers as possible for donations of time and materials.  And third, concentrate on the how, where, and when, the car can be completed.
Don is sure to have a few ideas of his own on how he would like the car to be.  Maybe he would like to keep it numbers matching, or maybe not.

So, if you are donating a part or something, like a motor, that you only want to part with if it gets used on the car, lets us know.  If you donate a part or something and do not care if it gets used on the car, then it may get sold to raise further funds for the project.

Just my 2 cents, vertman.

I volunteered the 440, it needs rebuilt and has no carberation or intake. If Don wants it it is his. When I made this offer it was when a rolling chasis was being considered. But as I just said if Don wants it he can have it. But it certainly can't be rebuilt ($$$$$) before Carlisle. And personally if this car is indeed a numbers car I for one beleive it should stay that way. After Don gets it, it his baby to do as he well pleases. I'll leave it to whomever to make this deceision / offer to Don, he dosen't need to know who has donated any parts as far as I'm concerned, this is and will be a c-c.c effort. How much we gave or what we gave as far as parts is meaningless, it's the combined effort of this site. He is the hero, not our effort here !

:iagree: with the above mentioned things, but not trying to be a pest, but what if he receives this car in the shape it's in and doesn't have the funds (or man-power) to get things done on it?  Then what?  The car may sit (if he's got the room for it) and he may not do anything with it.  Again, not to say "hey we put all this effort into getting this and now you're doing nothing with it" but I think we should at least try to complete it as best we can (and that would consist of putting a priority on everything and seeing where we get the most bang for our buck/work).  I thought someone said he was getting deployed again, if so, we can take the car while he's deployed and finish it off.  I can probably tell you that if we get anyone to donate (sponsors, not people), they will probably want to see something sooner rather than later.  Hence the reason most places don't do this type of thing because the crooked (sp?) people out there sat things like this just to get items for free that they can resell or use for their own benefit.

Again, not to dampen or crush anyone's ideas, just throwing out my thoughts as to how we can make this as good as possible for Don.  Just my  :2cents:

Does this have to be finished fro this particular show? I realize our name would be in the spot light, but I was thinking.... A good clean 73 barracuda put back as what it was in a time frame that assures cuda guy gets this for his valor efforts and duties would mean more to him then a rush job of what was said 22 days.  I am for picking a different time for presentation of the car to give him what we have been talking/dreaming about for a while.

He can be stalled and left in suspense for a bit. Our name and efforts are going into this for Cuda guy, he risked his life overseas for you and I and I believe in my opinion, he deserves the best we can put out. I feel it would be worth the wait for the extra few days.
Sorry if I feel like a bummer here, but I want him to have the greatest gift a bunch of caring unseen member/friends could give.

Granted, it took a bit longer to get the car. But we shouldn't cut any corners here. We have came this far.

This is just my opinion I thought I should speak on, but will be pleased in any direction this act of kindness leads too.

I hope I am not speaking out in the wrong direction. I am just a caring type of person and usually put others ahead of me.

I have suggested in the past that giving Don this car in what ever stage would overwelm his expectations and while he is serving his country we could finish the car and present it to him later. Guys this is good input to consider at this point. Time is obviously short and we can get alot started but not finished. I don't think as a group or community we ever intendend to present Don with a restored Cuda, but a very presentable car. I think we still can. I think Don will be very gracious with a car, a title in his name, a set of keys, and a great group of friends that have a common bond. I beleive we can build an awesome driver with the efforts of all involved.

:iagree:  Provided the car can move, looks presentable (no rust issues and in primer), runs well, and stops well under its own power, Don would be ecstatic to know it's truly his.  After seeing how much fun he had just cruising around in April's '72 in '05, he'd drive the hell out of it in whatever state it is in. (so mechanically sound and presentable should be what we strive for in the beginning stages. :2thumbs:)

Rev, is the car missing the four switch pod on the dash?  I don't see it up there in the photo.  I know I had a spare from a '70 Challenger non-rallye dash, but I believe I've sold it on eBay. (I can't really remember what I did with it.)

I wanted everybody to know that at Ft. Campbell, where he is stationed, they have an auto work shop for the soldiers where they can work on their projects in their off time. They even let you leave your car there while you are in process of getting it going again. At least they did when I was stationed there.  He'll be able to do alot of work on it in his offtime.

With the little time that we have and the distance from me to Ohio I don't think that i can arrange to take any time off to help with the labor. Might be just as well; I might break more than I fixed  :P.  If somebody can get me an address to drop-ship, and confirm that the interior is/will be black, I'll buy a set of kick panels and send them on their merry way.

What about wheels for the car? I have a set  of 15x6.5 ralleys, no center caps or trim rings. I can get these to Rev before the car goes north. Just let me know. Also a new set of CherryBomb Turbo mufflers.

I think he's shipping out again in August/September... not a lot of off time coming his way...
