70 Challenger Wiper Motor
« on: April 04, 2007 - 05:30:23 PM »
Sorry no hugh pics this time round, I'll try to get it right later. Right now I've got a little issue with my wiper motor. 1970 Challenger, 3 speed/variable speed motor.  The wipers failed to "park", so I do a little repair work and now they will not turn off. So much for my abilities. So I'm on the hunt for either another motor or rebuilt the one I have. I've located one on ebay, looks identical; however the part # is 3799120 and the part number on mine is 2926919. Any assistance with cross reference on the numbers greatly appreciated. Tks   Papa 70

are you trying to stay concourse are just concerned that the part is wrong?   I can't help you with the part number but there are rebuilt OE's available at most local parts stores.

edit:  Napa lists 3-speed motor for my '73  only 2-speed for a '70 don't know what the difference would be

I've tried NAPA without any luck. Year One does list them for big dollars, but it's always a possibility. I'll try to keep the numbers correct; however it's not a priority so if any part stores may stock the item that would work. Tks for the reply.  Papa 70 :canada:
1970 and 71 3 speed are unfortunately unique. There's no problem getting a 72-74 3 speed. I'm leaning toward the rebuild if I can find a qualified place. Tks for the info guys

I just bought a 3 spd yesterday on the bay. It was dated for a 74, but it was NOS and 67 bucks shipped in the original box. I was told there's a clock to adust for like a bodies, e bodies and c bodies. The 4 prong plug, you just put them like whats on yours.

Everything works but the park? :dunno: Sure it's not the switch or the dash ground?

'70 and 71 motors were 3431077, the later motors have a different size crank stud on them and require modification to fit the 70-71 cranks.

Thanks for the spec sheet, I did attempt to "monkey" with it somewhat, enough to break a wire on the gear backing. No problem resoldering it. I tried CarQuest with no luck. Lots of 72-74, no 70-71. So it's either rebuild or watch our favorite source for parts, the 'bay. Tks guys     Papa 70

Wow,  I didn't have any idea these rebuild places existed. Not cheap, but definately worth the money getting the rebuild. I see the one I presently have is from a C Body.  Changing that to an E body is worth the money itself. Once again, Thank you!!   Papa

If you are going to spend any money getting yours rebuilt, go with the best.
