Oil Pressure
« on: April 05, 2007 - 05:11:16 AM »
Just a general question as this is on my DD.  My eletronic oil pressure guage decided to peg to the Waaayyyy over 100 lb. mark.  Seing as how it does this as soon as the key is turned on without the engine running, I'm assuming that it's electrical.  BTW, I drove this Chebbie POS 30 miles to work this A.M. without it blowing up, so I doubt the bearings are being washed.

Good assumption ?

sounds like a guage problem , I would screw a mechanical guage into the block to check it

Pegging with just the key on? Its either a faulty gauge or the sender wire has a short to ground.

Yep, shorted wire........... Unplug it and see if it goes down, then you will know if it is the sensor.

And sorry about the chevy man, I would hate to have to drive one of those things..... :eek4:

I'll see about the wiring.  With any luck, I'll have an 87 Daytona for a beater pretty soon.
