Console door...
« on: April 05, 2007 - 11:34:12 AM »
Can a warped console door become, er, unwarped?   :sly: ???

Stick in in the oven for a bit and bend er straight?   :eek7:  I have no idea.

Reason Im asking is because there is a nice console on egag that doesnt have a door, and mine is warped some.  The auction ends in 8 hours, I just found it, so preferably a answer before then.

Thanks

I am not sure but was gonna try something similar on one of the ribbed radio bezel's for my 70 challenger.I was gonna use a heat gun and try and take the bow out of it.Only way to know for sure is to try.

I would definitely try a heat gun before I put anything in the oven. For what it's worth, they do repro console lids now.

I got mine from Dante's.  Don't remember how much, though.  Hit their website.

Put it in very hot water. Bend it to the shape it needs to be then quickly cool it off with cool water.
I have had good results getting warped plastic back that way.
DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR OVEN !!!  :nono:
Good luck.

Thanks Mike.  http://www.dantesparts.com/console.html

Are the repro consoles exact?  That doesnt seem like too bad of a price if its spot on.   :dunno:

LOL!  I thought I'd get a good response from someone.  Sounds like a great idea though, Dave, I'll try it   :bananasmi

They are not exact, but they are pretty close.
