Legendary, Yr 1 or who for new interior?
« on: April 05, 2007 - 08:30:17 PM »
While my petty blue 72, with med blue interior, is in the body shop I'm gonna have them put in a new white interior, as well as changing the vinyl top to white.
From personal experience, where should I buy a complete interior- frt & rear covers, door panels, carpet, headliner etc.

Also as long as the car is being repainted, I'm also considering changing it from petty blue to plumb crazy.

So it will be either petty blue w/ white top and interior or
plumb crazy with a white top & int.
What would you do???
Purple is my all time fav.

And if I switch to purple, I need to purchase a black dash pad, even though my blue one is perfect.
Or should I have it dyed black???

Where ever you buy from make sure they're not Palco panels. The fit and shape of the ones we got for my Challenger 9went through two sets as one was slightly damaged) was shocking. It was a good 3/4 - 1" out at 3 out of the 4 ends, holes in the wrong places, just you basic reproduction mass product that's utter junk.

We ended up and I'd highly recommend restoring what can be restored from your original interior items. It'll be 100% correct and the fitment is as good as you'll get it, being from factory it'll fit perfectly (in most cases). You can dye them but I'm not a big fan of dye especially in a sun soaked area like the dash pad, it will eventually peel no matter how good the dye is. I would fling of your B5 Blue pad and use that money to buy  a new black one.

My :2cents:

As far as I know no one makes a door panel that is a good as the originals. I try and find originals in awesome shape, they cost more but are well worth it imo. I have to agree, do not dye the blue dash. Also legendary makes awesome interior panels.

For interior soft parts; seat covers, headliner etc.  I would go with Legendary, they are usually cheaper and I think they supply Year1 anyway.

Legendary, but you can go through a dealer and save more and still get the same stuff/warranty.  Dantes is good, havent always got the best service though, but I'm sure hes a busy guy.  Theres other options too.

Has anyone had any luck "repairing" scratches in door panels?   Mine are white, and one side has some deeper scratches (might even call it a gouge).   As indicated, I would rather repair than replace with ill-fitting repops.
Any advice?

Actually had better luck with deeper gouges than scratches, used two part Bondo rubber bumper repair to fill & made texture tool with hot glue gun from good area & pressed onto repair till dry. My panels & repair are black so color was not a problem don't know how white would work out. Light scratched & rubbed areas the repair would not stick, too thin, ended up using flat touch up paint dabbed on in layers to fill/build up.

BUT....
they come with the palco panels which some of you say stink.
