rear end problems advice needed

I installed a new 3rd member into my 8 3/4 (3.91 posi out of a mid 60's D100) and when I went to slide in the axles, neither side would go in. I have no clue why the axles won't go in unless the splines are different. Does anyone have any ideas?

typically the spider gears & axles gears may not line up if the sure grip has been disassembled so you may need to pry the axle with a crowbar between the whhel studs until the splines line up
