I can't stand dishonest people
« on: April 07, 2007 - 01:45:48 PM »
I went out this morning to clean some parts on my cuda and found that someone hit the front fender.  :villagers:  I can't believe that someone would do this and not have the decency to come and knock on my front door and own up to it.  I understand accidents happen so I can't be upset about it, but it bothers me about the dishonesty of people.   :pullinghair:

Well there is nothing I can do about it at this point so I have to move forward.  I need some opinions from some of you body work type folks, do you think I can take this to a body shop and have them bang it out.  I really just want the fender to be somewhat straight at this point.  From the pictures I'm sure you can tell (look closely) the car is in need of another paint job but this was something I was not planning on doing for at least another year.  Even if I wanted to do it now I can't due to I just burned up all my money getting my 340 stroked out to a 417 (pictures and sound clipping coming in few weeks when I get the engine back).

So at this point I just want the fender to be somewhat straight and I'll be able to live with it. I know I'll have a big primer spot on the fender but that is better then the headache of having to find another fender, paying big bucks for it and on top of all that it will be another color.  So I would like hear from you guys on if you think if can be straighted out.

Oh, on the positive side of things it looks like only the fender was damaged no damage to hood, inner fender, tire, steering etc.

WOW that sucks!!  Looks like they clipped it pretty good to!  Is there a driveway across the street from where it was setting.  Thats not a sideswipe type of hit, it was backed into from the looks of it.   :swear:

 :villagers: :swear: :stomp:

It looks like a truck hit it, something with a high bumper.  Like 4C said, backed into it, or ran into it, not sideswiped.

Any way you look at it its a major bummer.   :sadwavey:

I know this kind of thing happens but people should be honest enough to own up to what they have done. I would be darn pissed if someone hit my Challenger or Cuda.

That is a shame, obviously from the damage they knew they did it. So, got any bad blood with anyone, neighbor or otherwise, could someone done this on purpose? I ask only because I find it hard to beleieve a neighbor would do it accidently and not say something to you, too much of a chance someone may have witnessed it. Did you see any plastic or glass or anything laying around from the vechicle that hit your fender? For sure someone deserves an arse kickin.

? ?  That took a hard direct hit, but from what? Other than the paint flaking up where the fender has the most strenght on the belt line, I can see no other paint blemish, just the inward push / wrinkle from the impact. And the damage had to be done by something somewhat narrow, or at an angle from backing up. But it looks more like a direct 90* square impact. Even possibly the front tire of a motorcycle coming from accross the street, the tire would cushon the impact, but the rim of the cycle could be enough to buckly the fender, the car's tire would then also absorb impact.  Strange indeed.............?  Is there a drive way or intercesting street across from where your car was parked?

Wow, I'd be irate if I uncovered my car and found something like that! :swear:  As you've said, it's pathetic whoever did it didn't have the decency to come forward and take blame for their wrong-doing. :villagers:  Perhaps you could take some pointers in the right direction of fixing it by reading DMZ73's tutorial on his website about how to go about repairing damage that's around a body line.  I believe doing a search under the "Bodywork" section of the site should give you the info. with the links over to his complete write-up.

Ok, so you guys are pretty observant and have given a lot of good comments on who dunnit.

Here is some more info, some of this info is to answer some of the questions from the posts. I did find some broken plastic clip looking pieces by the wheel, which I'm pretty sure are not from my Cuda.  Yes there is a driveway across from the car and I agree with you guys, I think someone backed up into it from that driveway.

Now the interesting info, the neighbors who lived there moved out last weekend, and on Sunday there was a moving truck there on and off during most of the day.  I don't think the neighbors who lived there did it because they have been backing out of that drive way for a few years with the car being parked there, now on the other hand if they did do it they might not of owned up to it because the reason that they sold the house is because they went bankrupt and had to sell, but I still think they would of told me.  My guess is it was the moving company and the movers not owning up to it.  I doubt even if I could find out who the moving company was they would admit they hit it, so at this point I think I just need to move on.

What I really need to find out if the fender can be straightened enough to at least be presentable for now.

Cuda360, I live in Chandler AZ, and looking from your sig picture I'm guessing not real far from you.  Was that picture taken in Gilbert or Mesa?
