NZ,
Of course since Blofish has the 528 you know how we voted.  You won't be sorry.  You could always put on a blower.  Blofish has an all aluminum Indy Cylinder Head 528 Hemi.  When my husband first started on Blofish we were just going to put a crate 426 Hemi in it but then we thought why not go as wild as possible and that is when we decided 528 with a blower.  We have never been sorry.  Of course Pink Ice was no slouch either.  She could boil the tires at anytime.  Blofish looks like a race car but was built for the street and she looks awesome just sitting still.  Good luck on your project I hope you find what you are looking for.  If you have any questions I know my husband would be happy to answer them.

Thanks Pink Ice, very kind and great input. Oh, don't worry I am familiar with your cars. :grinyes:
How much hp/T are you making with the blower on top? I'm guesstimating somewhere around the 900hp mark. :scared:

I'm in no rush....the engine and work needed isn't cheap so I am definitely just taking my time. I have Lucy to play with this time, last time I had no Mopar so it was stressful lol. All I'm after is a decent/solid 71 rolling chassis Barracuda or Cuda just as long as it's a true 1971 car. (Rather than hack job the 73 into a 71).

Wow man, that's planning ahead! I bet you already have the names of your grandkids picked out!

NZ,
When we first had the dyno run the engine was putting out over 1500hp.  Indy detuned it down to 1050hp to make it more streetable.  It is a monster.  It has over 900 foot pounds of torque.  We did have some problems with it trying to overheat but after trying a lot of different things the temperature stays around 180 to 190 now.  Love the color of your soon to be Cuda.  Good luck.

Go big and go bad. If it's not going to a resto numbers matching ride then make it what you want. There is replacement for displacement and you won't be sorry.

I talked with a buddy who had a friend run down to California to look at a Challenger for sale.  He declined cause it was too much for him,  :o and later in their conversation the owner said the windshield had popped out 4 times now.  It had the 528 in it, apparently with not the right suspension set up.  The 528 is a whole 'nother monster.

You sound like the 528 for a street car may be too much but yet plan on building the 426.  Sounds like the perfect 472 candidate to me.  :grinyes:

Thanks for the input and help guys, I missed these last few posts. I decided that it will be a 528ci or bigger. Lots to plan and work on to make this an all round machine. Straightline and corners.

%28 seems to be the majority.  Barton did mine.  It was with $2k of the 472, which was the same as 426.  Any builder can do 472 for the same $ as 426 these days.  Dyno was 704hp and thats relatively mild, strong across the power b

Thanks Vert but I've decided to go in favour of the 426ci Hemi for the street. I'll be getting Tm Banning (FHO) to build it around the 500-550hp max mark. The 528 for me was overkill, I couldn't nor can anyone fully use that kind of horsepower to it's full potential on the street. For a street strip car that will see plenty of strip action, sure but for me and my build it's completely a waste. This is a car I want to drive at 100% WOIT everywhere if I want, no mini tubs, no roll bars and less body stiffening. The car once built will be 100% stock looking (at this stage) and will be a replica with hidden goodies.  It's a daily driven fun car, a 528ci wouldn't be that.

The 73 Cuda will be built later on to be wild. 800hp+ caged, tubbed, custom pieces etc etc.
