Insurance for my Challenger -- Any suggestions?
« on: April 23, 2007 - 08:12:24 AM »
Does anyone have any feedback (experiences) as to which of the Classic Car Insurance Companies I should look at for my Challenger?    :feedback:

Thanks!

I have an antique vehicle policy through State Farm which is very reasonable and competative with other companies such as Haggardy's (spelling??). I pay about $75 bucks a year. I recently had  to file a claim when the front wheel came off my Challenger & damaged my front fender. They were quick to respond and the settlement was very fair for the damage.  :2thumbs:

VM,

I have American Collector Insurance on my 71 Superbee

$142 dollars a year and it has an agreed value clause.

2500 miles a year is the only drawback.

Just out of curiosity, do the premiums drop once you reach 25 in the US? :dunno: Down here, if you've had no accidents or big claims etc, even if you have for some companies your rates drop by a good 25%+. I'm turning 25 in July and can't wait!!! It's about the only thing to be happy about getting old. From 25 it's all down hill.......

 Hagerty is very good. I have two classic cars insured with them with an agreed value - pay about $250 a year. Had a claim (my fault) and they were great. Did not raise my premium after the claim either.

I represent American Collectors, JC Taylor, & Haggerty all three companies have been great to work with. NZ440R/T in Mass it goes by years experience 0-3, 3-6, and over 6. Other states do go by age.

I think 2500 miles a year is a ton on a classic muscle car! I only put 350 on mine last summer!!!  :burnout:

I've heard Hagerty is the best because they know how much your car is actually worth now.

I live in Florida.  I never reach 2500 because it gets to hot in the summer.

Correction on my price quote.  :-[ I pay $75 buck semi-annually. So it's $150.00 per year. Very close to what Hagerty charges and I think about the same type coverage. Your choice. I've not heard anything negative about either! And the insurance premiums do drop here after the age of 25. that's the magic number.  :2thumbs:

NZ,

They do drop. Let me tell you.  :grinyes: The thing I find funny is if you are under 25 and married your rates drop too.  Apparently single guys under 25 get the shaft.  :dupe:  :dupe:  :dupe:

I've heard Hagerty is the best because they know how much your car is actually worth now.

I had Haggarty for years, finally switched to American Collector because of another post on this board.  Saved $50 a year, doesn't sound like a lot, but that's quite a % drop, went from $175 to $125.  I have $20k agreed value.

As others have said, only difference is American limits mileage to 2500.  I never come anywhere near that.
