Here's a Weird WIW - Film
« on: April 23, 2007 - 08:52:25 AM »
As promised, this will probably be the oddest "What's it Worth" for quite a while. I may not even be able to get a reliable answer, but opinions are welcome too.

I have the original color film (large format 4x5, kodachrome, quantity 3) of the Yellow Jacket concept car. These are not prints, but the reversal (i.e., slide) film that was shot in the studio, and from which prints were made. I got them from Chrysler's PR people a couple of decades back when I was researching an article on the car; I still have the envelope, and the business card of the gentleman who sent them. (His comment, BTW, was, "If you want this sh*t take it now, 'cause we're throwing it out.") I also have some prints of parts of the press package in black and white, but I don't think they ad significant value to the package.

Anybody want to hazard a guess as to what it's worth?

Is this an 8mm.  Has it been reproduced.  In other words, is it easy to find and view in a different format (VHS,DVD,Etc) or do you have pics, footage that is not anywhere else?

I wonder if Chrysler Historical or Barry might want it?  :dunno:

Sounds very cool though.  Any pics?

6pak -

This is not motion picture film. It's the large format (4x5 inch) still film shot for producing the publicity packets. I'm attaching them below; if nothing else, people will probably get a kick out of seeing them  :naughty: From the little bit of checking I've done, it seems that there are prints of at least two of these in circulation, maybe in the press packet itself (I've never seen a complete one), so the images themselves are not unique. Rather, the fact that this is the original film is what gives them value, if anything does. It's analagous to the difference between having a Hemi Cuda convertible and having a Hemi Cuda convertible clone.

Super Blue -

Pics attached, enjoy.

I'm in the middle of buying my first house (and, more importantly, my first garage) and what I'm really trying to do is raise cash to cover my out of pocket expenses. I would like to think that the unique nature of these makes them pretty valuable, but as we all know, anything is worth what somebody will pay you for it  :)

I dont have any advice but, that looks kinda cool!  Almost (Almost I say)  looks like they grafted the back of a '69 or '70 Charger onto the back of it.  There wasnt one made, was there?   ???  If there was, it was probably destroyed.

Thanks for the cool pics.  You'll have to find a memorabilia guy for those.  71 bigblock it is a real car and still exists.  It is white now.

Thanks. Clown, I've talked to Steve Juliano, who has the real car (it was redesigned into the Diamante, more Corvette-looking, the following year, and he has that). He was fun to talk to, but his interest level was a lot lower than I'd like.

I've thought about that, and that may be the way I go. I truly dislike ebay, but you do what you gotta, I guess.

Hemmings Motor News might be a good place where you can target people who collect auto memorabilia.  I would look outside of just Mopar collectors.

I have always thought that that was the best-looking Challenger ever made, which is why I started working on the article I had planned. I was about 75% done when another article appeared that covered almost everything I had  :'(
