NYC
« on: April 23, 2007 - 10:22:29 PM »
I've been in NYC since the 18th and found these guys. The Charger was on 36th street in Brooklyn while i was trompin' around there last Friday and the Monaco was parked outside Madison Square Garden on 33rd street between 6th and 7th avenues last Friday as well as today. The red interior in the Monaco was near perfect :)
Of course there were lots of tall buildings too  :smokin: and a few candid shots like the elderly gent by the sign in front of The Manhattan Public Library (main branch) and folks in rubberized Staue of Liberty outfits that could be posed with for a picture. I thought a shot of one of the guys taking a break would be more interesting
Also a couple of shots of Hotel Walcott where myself and a couple of folks stayed, Greeley Square on W. 33rd, Alwyn Court two blocks from Central Park and a few in the park itself. There were three unusual days of temps on the low 70s with dewpoints in the 30s  :worshippy culminating today with a projected high in the mid 80s :cooldancing: so many of the trees were budding out. Enjoy

:jumping: :swaying:  Those pics are great! Did you have a good trip? We drove around NY a few years ago. I was to chicken to go into the city. When I look out the window here all I see is flat as far as the eye can see. I have no desire to go to the big city.

Great shot of the Empire State Bldg.  I've always wanted to go to NYC, just can't seem to find the extra $$$ to go.  Looks like an adventure.

Dig those statues on the buildings. Reminds me of Ghostbusters.

I've never been to N.Y.

I've been there three times, enough to know I don't wan't to go back. The people and the prices are pretty much alike, INSANE .  I speak of the downtown scene, ya need a peace and a bottle, one for protection, the other for your nerves.  Bad place.

Looks like a "quickie" impound lot for the not so correctly or timely parked vechicle. He'll make the equivelient of a month's payment (or more) to get it out of hock.  :roflsmiley:

I think it is a lift to double the parking capacity.

Yep, chalk up one good trip :) ...and i don't blame you one bit!! :grinno:

Of course the closer your are to Broadway, 42nd Street, etc. the more expensive things get. Just as a fer' instance (and i'm sure in the local neighborhoods it's gotta be less expensive ::)) my friends and I had screwdrivers before each of the several Broadway musicals we attended; they double shots and a single for me with each shot being eight bucks  :screwy: Three drinks - forty bucks. Insane is right :money: But the real insanity is driving that area. I heard not a single instance of contact between any two vehicles but no opening was too small to nose yourself into - i saw limos cut off buses, taxis cut off each other, and horns for anyone too slow to move :22yikes: :eek2: I had planned on doing most of my travel by foot and there were many times i simply did not cross the street just so's i could watch things when the light turned green. Unbelievable

It's a vertical city and there are gargoyles, cherubs, and all sorts of intricate facades everywhere. Some really beautiful work with odd unexpected items for good measure. That pic of the weathervane was from our sixth floor window at the back of the hotel looking up. Too cool 8) Alwyn Court has those dragon bas-reliefs from top to bottom. Some of that really beautiful work

Sheesh, when you think of the price of installing and maintaining a lift, how many cars do they have to park on it a day to turn a profit on the freakin' thing??  Of course, at NYC parking rates, probably... ...2...

One of his pics showed $20/hour to $30/day! That's more than Chicago.

I'd say that's enough to more than pay for a few lifts.  Besides, land cost is probably "Priceless"/acre!
