I've always wondered what the road test numbers would be for '60s cars if they had modern tires?
For instance, the Car & Driver test (Nov., '67) of a '68 Dodge Charger R/T with 426-Hemi had a 13.5 sec @ 105 mph 1/4 mile. I'm guessing if that test back then was somehow done with modern tires, the 1/4 mile would have been at least low 13s at about 108 mph.
Or the Motor Trend test (Jan., '69) of a Dodge Charger R/T with 440-Magnum. The 1/4 mile for that car was listed at 13.9 secs @ 101.4 mph. So maybe mid-13s @ 103 mph with modern tires?
