Another Challenger R/T grill question.
« on: April 26, 2007 - 01:30:25 PM »
I have a question regarding the center section of a 70 Challenger R/T grill. I have been told the correct finish on the honeycomb section was an argent paint. I suspect that is incorrect. I thought the finish was a straight aluminum anodize. I have also seen some grills (not necessarily on an R/T) on which the honeycomb was black. Was the black finish or the argent finish ever correct for any model? What in fact is correct for the R/T?

You anodize the entire grille. Paint the outside area flat black leaving around a 1/4-1/2" gap of anodized ring around the headlights. You paint the rest flat black except the last two ribbed pieces closest to the honeycomb section. The honeycomb section is left bare with the outside edge anodized. The ones you saw painted would have been custom cars or done buy choice. As far as I'm aware they never left the factory black. That is how mine was done anyhow, buy Anobrite.
