LOL..Niel did you talk directly to Edlebrock? They must have a tech department. They must know by now that no one can bolt this crap on without being a machinist. If you need more of these sh!tty heads let me know, they have them in stock up here..bout 800 each I think.

No I have not wasted my time talking to them
 there was an article in oneof the Mopar mags 3-4 months ago going through the installation though & they showed pix where they had to notch the heads in exactly the same place I did BUT there was no mention in the article of having to do this modification at all even though the picture was obvious
I am still haing problems with this engine , the pushrods I built for it started snapping off so now I am into another $1000 or so my cost to fix the engine yet again  :banghead:

at this point, it's cheaper to go Indy..... Then again... I don't how much you got in it now... Sorry to hear about your troubles with it.

Wow, just to see what would happen I called Edelbrock tech last night and described these issues to the tech as if they were mine. 
 
The tech told that I must have got a pair of heads prior to the ones where they began adding an angled pushrod hole to improve the clearance problem. Which I thought was huge to have someone in this day and age actually admit that I could actually be having a problem with a product.  Tech went on to offer that I could send my heads in and that they could have punched those holes for me on their machine, exchanged my valley cover plate and helped me out as much as they could.
 
Problems suck, and literally suck the fun out of projects.  Sorry, to hear that you had so many problems, but when in doubt call the guy who made the part first and maybe you could have saved lots of time and $$.  My dad once told me that I'm not being fair if I get mad at someone without first giving them a chance to fix the problem.

that is a plausable approach But living in Canaduh the hassles shiping them back & forth internationally & time involved to clear custom twice without paying more Taxes would be prohibative , these did have the angled holes punched just not through the deck area that is in the way by 1/4" or more

Yeah, the international shipping thing would be a hassle.  Perhaps they could have offered to buy you a two four of Brador? :bigsmile:

That is very dissapointing.  Thank you CP for pointing out this thread to me.

For as substantial as engine heads are, it's dissapointing that it's so difficult to choose the right one.

well we dynoed the engine today
10;1 compression running pump gas , solid roller cam around 600 lift with mild duration making 10.5 " vacuum at idle
cobbled together EFI using parts from a number of sources
this 440 Ci monster  makes 415RWHP & 380 ft lbs on a Mustang dyno , or using SAe net HP 590 HP 565 ft lbs  or using 70 gross hp ratings 708.8 hp at 6300 RPM  :faint:

CP, was this the engine with the crank trigger problem a while ago? Do you have any pictures of the FI setup, just curious
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

I should be able to get pix of it , I don`t know why I have gone this far & not taken even one pic  :banghead:
 this one had no issue with the crank trigger but had serious fitment problems with the heads
 I don`t believe the #s are extra ordinary due to the heads , the cam & EFI are a big part of it , I believe the same power is possible with Indy heads

Fully ported the victors outflow the indy ez's.... ootb numbers are higher also...
