Gas Fumes
« on: April 28, 2007 - 07:40:07 AM »
Got my Challenger back yesterday from a winter-long "spruce up" and although there are no leaks on the garage floor, the gasoline fumes are quite strong.   They removed the tank and reinstalled the sending unit -- engine was pulled, carb kit,  etc.   Anybody got any ideas what could be causing these fumes?     :feedback:

look for signs of fuel on the intake manifold especially near the carb fuel line connection.

  :iagree:  :iagree:  :iagree:

This will pop up when you get the car running.

Also, do you have a full tank of gas? I'm just wondering about a leak around the sending unit, or filler tube. If your tank isn't full, maybe just the vapors are getting out for now.  :dunno:

If that doesn't work, id check your fuel vent line hoses.  If theres something wrong with the hose it vents a lot of fumes, more than you'd think :smilielol:
