...Chrysler woke up for 1969 1/2 with the Daytona and the "Lift Off Hood" cars, and in 1970 took the auto industry on a wild ride from which we are still feeling the effects all these years later....I was 18 years old and remember it like yesterday....cruise night, the streets were filled with new wild MOPARS, new wild colors and unbeatable performance....it was an exciting time to say the least....

...cars may be better today, they certainly are faster, but there will never be another time like 1969/1970 in the auto industry, or the world for that matter......

I love my '71, but I would have to agree with DAYTONA  on the best over all year being '70 (also first year of the E-body).

I also agree with Daytona. I would be more inclined to say 1968 to 1972 were the best years (plural), for muscle cars. After 1972 the emissions standards and the insurance industry took their toll on big block muscle and performance cars and it was all downhill after about 1973 (thank you Ralph Nader!!), not that there weren't some nice looking cars, but for all out performance it was the year or so before and after 1970!!

I would agree that 70 was it but for me it was fall of 70, the new for 71 B-bodies were coming out and you could still find plenty of 70 models at dealers.

'70 for sure!  I like my '73, but '70 has all the right things going for that particular year.

70 was a great year all around, even for other brands. 69 probably takes 2nd across the board.

Personally, I like the 68-71 years on the overwhelming majority of cars out there.

For Cudas, 71. For Challengers, 70.

70-no doubt. The introduction of the E body, only year for AAR's and T/a's, big blocks, convertibles, hemis, 70 chargers, superbirds, roadrunners (all before thier next year restyle)Those were the days men were men and sheep were nervous.....
