Traffic meltdown
« on: April 29, 2007 - 09:20:01 AM »
So the story is, he hit a guardrail under a major thouroghfare bridge that is a branch from the bay bridge. The tanker caught fire stopped underneath spilling fuel and melted the bridge above to fall below. This is going to create the worst traffic nightmare here in the bay area since the 89' earthquake. Probably 100's of thousands of cars per day cross it.

Seems we have a lot of bridge drama here.

The driver was not killed I understand.

Wow, there will be some major traffic problems, until that is fixed.

Really sheds some light on the collapse of the World Trade Center.. If big ole bridge girders could melt like that then the smaller structures in a building have no chance in a jetfuel fire.

I'm glad that guy made it out OK but I think he has some explaining to do  :misbehaving:

That is terrible.  Guess what!!  Another reason for gas to go up again.  Of course they don't need an excuse to raise prices.  Someone in the middle east could sneeze and it would jump up.  Glad no one was hurt but like was said the truck driver has some explaining to do.

He walked away while it was burning, caught a taxi to to the hospital and admitted himself. Can you imagine all the lawsuits that will generate from this? I wouldn't want to be in his shoes.

Without doubt the lawsuits will go on for years, and with possibility of many individuals and companies involved. But bottom line is the fact that one person is responsible, the truck driver. Unless he can prove he got cut off or otherwise was caused to lose control. Then again there could have been a mechanical malfunction to the truck and...................now you can see why it will last for a few years, especially with the crawl speed of court cases etc.  What a mess, glad at least no was killed, and only second degree burns to the driver.

My friend at Caltrans sent me this link.  Look at the damage the fire caused.

I walked by a Chinese restuarant today by the newspaper machines and it even made headlines in them. Couldn't read a dang thing.

Yea, hopefully they get it fixed soon.

The Clayton show started in April at Skipolini's every Wednesday night until I think October? I swear I am going to make it out there this summer. Three more weeks of school and I'm out for summer  :bananasmi :cooldancing: :ylsuper:
