Yupe, "blame" the Shaker for the prices of flat hoods.
Still a cheap price considering what original Shaker hoods go for, $2-8K. :22yikes:

Should have kept mine. I gave it away with my last Cuda I sold. I thought it was fairly worthless at the time.

Glad I kept the flat hood from the 71 cuda, to bad the challenger hoods haven't hit that yet, I have a couple of those I'm planning on cutting for shakers.

I'll be needing one more than likely in the near future. "Can't wait".  ::) :-[ The hood is bad but the shipping will also rip me knickers. If I can I'd ship it over with the car in the container a long with any other sheet metal and oversized parts the car needs that way it's "free".

Yep, if we all knew then what we know now. I sold my '70 flat hood for 90 bucks in perfect condition. I'm not sure but it looks like that one doesn't have any of those crush/crumple zone features. That'll make it pricier.

We've traded people Cuda Rally hoods for flat hoods to do shakers on builds.

Moparnut, I'm probably calling them by the wrong name. Look at the picture, they're to two horizontal indents on either side of the hole. The pic is from the left (passenger) side under the hood. In a front end crash the hood is suppose to buckle in those areas. I believe the '70 ones didn't have them and in a front end collision the hood would go straight through the windshield and if you didn't duck...well you get the idea. I couldn't find a '70 rallye hood when I swapped over, that's why I have them.

Actually, on barracudas the crumple zone thing is a mid 1970 thing so some '70 hoods have them and some don't.  Easy to tell a '70 hood though because they don't have the holes for the "Plymouth" emblem on the front driver's side.

The only Challenger hoods that are used for shaker hoods are the 70 and 71 models. The 72 to 74 models aren't correct.
Hold on to those chally hoods. I sold all of mine to Gean Gregory. Saved one real nice flat barracuda hood for later.

yep.. they usually want a core if you buy a repro shaker hood or $500. I am actually going to be looking for one soon to make a shaker.
