They would be better off not coming around, or at least not saying they will donate parts etc., then to back out of a verbal heard by many Mopar people.  BAD PLUBLICITY, and beleieve me we can and will let the word out about such BS if it would come to that. Hey, nothing may happen, but you can only be told no or no one comes forth. Yes Don is a member and a friend to many, even some of you who have never met him. To "blind side" an American service man via of going back on your word to him would not be wise. Especially if Don knows about it ! !   :roflsmiley:  :roflsmiley:  :smilielol:  :smilielol:  :smilielol:

I just got of the phone with Bill Miller (co-owner of Carlisle) and Ed(events planner) . They both want to be involved with the presentation. Ed would like to have the Cuda on the stage under a cover. Kinda an unveiling. On Sat. , maybe before the bikini contest. The stands will be full. Get Don down sitting in the stands. He also said he will contact the local media. Ed said what ever we want to do is cool. I'm to keep him updated. So let me know what we them want to do.

I think thats great news and an awesome way to present the car to Don!

I do like that idea too, and like I said before it might help us get vendor support. In the interest of keeping it in the "family," though, I do think the presentation should be made by c-c folks.

:iagree: It's been expressed before and surely will be again but it's the members that make this site the great place that it is!!

Btw last month when i was at Y1, they had a batch of posters depicting Kenny Yougblood's rendering of the 1970 Sox and Martin hemi 'cuda titled 'The Boss' that apeared to be signed by Buddy Martin. I picked up one with the intention of having it framed and sitting in the back seat of 'The CudaGuy Project'. Is it possible for me to send it up in a mailing tube along with a money order to cover the framing costs? That way it could be with the car as it makes it's way to Carlisle :)

If I might chime in here....  This entire thing was conceived of, paid for, and put together by CC.com folks.  As much as I appreciate Carlisle folks wanting to be involved in the presentation, I think it should be where we all gather... the hotel parking lot on Thursday night.  That way Don can enjoy his car for the weekend.  There is no way we will be able to keep it under wraps for 2 days. :grinno:

I was thinking. Why do we need vender support. A good bodyman is doing the car now, most all the parts are being sent to the body shop. This was a personal gift from cc.c to Don.  I like the personal way, club way, we planned on doing it. We don't need the recognition. Don will be at tears already, and its a lifetime memory any place he sees the car, he recieves the car.  I have always enjoyed being an anonymous person. It's a very good feeling inside without the bright lights.

Not to offend anyone, but I'm with Rev.

Here's your new car keys Don, go play for the weekend. This is our way as to say thanks.  The only thing really needed for thursday night in the parking lot is car insurance along with the keys.

The power and willingness of CUDA_CHALLENGER.com is as strong as any vendor.

Rev and Moparal,
I agree with you that this should be a CCC thing because that is how everything for this car has gone down, the idea, the action, and i think the presentation needs to be included. The only reason that i mentioned the vendors is to possibly help with the funding/parts for the cars. they want publicity and we want parts. just my  :2cents:

Hmm, I'm torn between two great points.  The first being it's awesome Jackie was able to contact the co-owner of Carlisle and set up something that wouldn't "just happen" for anyone, so thank you for taking the time for that.  The other being that some members want it to be a C-C.com-only event that would present the car sooner to Don.  Perhaps my proposal is that we get some trade-off between the two so that C-C.com will get the full recognition we as members deserve, yet get Don a great spread on the pages of just about every MoPar magazine out there. (Stating from his involvement in the Armed Forces up to the point of receiving a car from a group of friends, some of which he's never even met.)  I'd assume Legendary and the other vendors we've previously tried to reach would finally offer their hand in any other interior pieces and YearOne would donate any of the other parts that'll still be needed to finish up the car once Fishn4Cuda and the rest of the people involved with bodywork get it free of rust and in primer.  With that said, perhaps we could still present the car as a club in the parking lot to Don when everyone's there, then have him stage an act when it's put up on stage. (If that doesn't sound too bad.) :dunno:

get Don a great spread on the pages of just about every MoPar magazine out there.

I used to freelance for some magazines a while back, and depending on when this goes down I'd be happy to take some pictures and do a write-up we could send out. Unfortunately, I can only be at Carlisle on Saturday. If it's going to happen Thursday night (and I can see the point about letting him enjoy the car around his friends), I can contact the magazines and give them a heads up so they could have some people there to cover, as long as the members don't feel that that would be an intrusion. What do you folks think?

I've already expressed my personal thought that the car should be presented to Don by c-c.c members first and privately as a "club" if you will. Then if and hopefully Carlisle events and the Chrysler Classic people want to publize the event at a the grandstand or where ever that would be great. I so appreciate Jackie contacting these people, but first and foremost it is and was a c-c.c thought, dream, and effort to thus far get where we are now. Yes there are some expensive parts still needed, if the vendors want to contribute fine, that would be greatly appreciated. It would be for Don and his Cuda, not to c-c.c. Does this make sense and sound right?

I'd love to be there for the presentation, but I'm cool with whatever people decide. I know that there are tons of members who won't be able to be there, so that's just life. I'll miss all the  :drunk:  :grinyes:

Since I haven't been able to devote a lot of time or money to the project I was thinking that I could donate photography skills, but realistically this isn't fine art photography, and I'm sure that there will be a lot of folks with cameras getting some good shots. If there's a keeper maybe I can arrange to make Don a good print.

How about this:  Lets have the car and parts donated to Don, just by the CC.C members, but then have the other companies give a gift card to be used for future upgrades.

This way the members are truly responsible for getting the car ready for the show, plus Don can save his money and use the cards to do his own unique upgrades to give the car a personal touch.

Plus I do not see anything wrong with showing the car to Don on Thursday, but then tell him it has to go on the stage until the unveiling so that he can get other donations for his car.

Just a thought.  :dunno:
