Saturday was a struggle. The center body line is a pain in the butt to get straight. That wasn't the worse thing of the day. A couple of people from the local mechanical college came over to clean, tear down, and regasket the 318. After degreasing it and powerwashing the entire block, it became very evident the drivers side of the block was cracked. :banghead: :banghead:After some discussion as to how to repair, a couple of calls to Dons dad, and a few others, we decided to set the original 318 aside because of time and cost. So the next question where are we going to get an engine that doesn't need rebuilt and not open a can of worms to hinder the reassembly? Think, Think, Think, Think.......oh ya I remembered a 318 was sitting in the warehouse out of a 71 Challenger conv I used to own and it still ran fine when I pulled it.  I decided to let Don borrow it until he puts a big block in it later.
So today I'm going back out to the shop to block sand some more and hopefully have the car ready for paint tomorrow. :working:

At least you can still have the car running for Don at Carlisle Tony. Well, this afternoon I'll tear down the 440 that I said was Don's if he wanted it, I guess he'll be needing another power plant. I've had the engine for about 3-4 years now, never touched it. I bought it from a guy from St. Louis, Mo., along with  2  727 BB trannys and a couple other misc. parts, and all because I needed another hood for my 70 Charger.  :roflsmiley: . We'll discuss delivery time and location later, I just want to tear it down to see that everything is in order, it was supposed to be a "runner" when it was pulled by the guy I bought it from, he was a member of the old Charger forum. Good guy, a body and paint man BTW, imagine that. I tell ya, these body guys love these Mopars so much they just can't keep there fingers off all those wonderful lines and curves.  :naughty:  :roflsmiley:

Glad you had a good engine 'sitting in the corner."

I bet if we took a survey about half the members of this board have at least one engine sitting in a corner  :roflsmiley:  Moparitis is a disease and cars & parts  are the cure.  No 12 step program needed -Hello my name is Gary and I am a Moparaholic

Keep up the great work Tony - You're an inspiration!  You've really got me rolling around the idea of blasting up to Carlisle to see Don's reaction and to meet you and say Thanks to BOTH of you; Him for his Service and you for your unselfish inspiration.

I'm coming out from CA. One of the many reasons was to see his reaction also.

I was able to stop by the shop just before the start of the Power Tour and I have to say that Tony is doing a great job on the Cuda, Don will not believe what he has.

Sorry to hear about the 318, but Glad you had another one.

Also, Tony, Thank you very much for the swaybar mount, it worked perfectly for the whole trip.  You are the man!!!   :2thumbs:  Also you have a very nice shop.   :2thumbs:  Thanks again.

Reassembled the nose today and trying to fit the hood. Center bodyline is close to ready. May not get it painted until tomorrow. Mike (Boo) and his friend Christin assembled the engine block and detailed it. Boos' parents and brother stopped by on Sat and and donated a Lokar kickdown cable kit and helped degrease the original block.
