Key facts to verify true 71 Hemi Cude Convert
« on: May 02, 2007 - 03:00:24 PM »
What are the some key ways to verify a 71 Hemi Cuda Convert is real? A laundry list would be best to allow me to compare multiple things.  :2thumbs:

I'm sure others can provide better technical descriptions of the unique differences but in my mind, documentation really helps guarantee the car is what it is and ensures the value.   Anybody who has the "laundry list" can duplicate or forge VIN numbers, torque boxes, diff's, etc.  The documentation is harder to forge and if you can contact previous owners that is even better. The documentation includes build sheets, original sale documentation, dealer service orders, registrations by various owners, etc.

Technically there is no way except documantation. Everything that makes it a hemi 'vert can be illegally put on the car and it could be passed as a real one.

Yup, all 71 Hemi Cuda Verts have been accounted for.  There was "new" one that popped up a while back, but turned out was a rebody of a car that "supposidly" existed in France back in the 70's.  Otherwise all accounted for.

That's not necessarily true. We have all seen cars pop up that no one knew existed. CHryslers records weren't that accurate either. Never say never.

Chrysler does have records of some of the rareer cars, Hemi Cudas Verts, AAR/TA cars, etc... and there was a list of 71 Hemi Cuda verts built, that is how everyone knew that there was one missing up until Harold Sullivan got the last one, the red one, a few years ago.  I have a copy of that list around here somewhere from the NHOA.

Is there a listing of all produced? That would really help. Someone is passing one off here in Houston on Craigslist, stating they have documentation and even the original window sticker. Looks like a scam, smells like a scam, but it doesn't hurt to at least follow up.  :poopoke:

I know all of the supposed numbers on these verts fellas. I'm just saying that more than once a car or two has slipped through the cracks that wasn't supposed to be built.
