  i don't think i would worry about the 741 case too much...  especially with an automatic....    i'm running a 741 in my dart and last time out had about 6" of air under the left front tire and it is still going strong....

And I got the picture to prove it...lol. I dont think you'll break it. I agree, leave the pinion in the case it started in, and swap the ring gear onto the sure grip, then install that in that case. Very easy...

So a 489 case sure grip will work ok? I would like the use the clutch type I have so I can freshen it up easily. Does it matter that the sure grip I want to use is in a case with 5.13 gears? I have a few cone type sure grips as well if I need to use one of those. Thanks again for all the replies.
